Kodiak is a small, family-run company based out of Utah, and they specialize in Buffalo Leather products. They pride themselves on durability, advertising that you can pass their products on to your children.
What we like about their products is that they look old and worn out of the box, so if they get even older and more worn, they'll look the same. It's the charm of their products!
Furthermore, leather is repairable and re-conditionable, which is not something we can say about synthetic materials.

I was all set to buy buffalo leather but your scratch test is an immediate deal-breaker, no matter how perfect the style and features are. It's back to full grain cowhide for me.

Totally get it. Some people like the extra character the scratches give it, but they can really add up over time

I agree with your review that bag may last a long time because of the leather material but definitely not for most people because of its distinct look....nowadays people are more on multifunctional bags (like me 😁) but that bag is durable and professional look 😊

I have the Mahi backpack (tan), bought it second hand on Ebay. Very impressed with the quality, mine have taken a real beating. Saddle soaped and then conditioned it, came back a dream.

Good review. Seems to be a bunch of unfortunate combinations of features though. Shoulder carry + low comfort + high weight Document carrying + rustic look + large and cute logo unsuitable for professional environments Flap protection + bad weather resistance Easy scratch and lack of weather proof is hell for hk commuting too lol Seems to be best for something you store in the car but sometimes need to bring to the office... or maybe hanging on your camel if you live in the desert.
