Came here after tonight's Islam Makhachev's victory against Charles Do Bronx Oliveira in UFC 280... I didn't knew this could choke the opponent. I guess the shoulder part of the opponent's arm ends up choking himself more than your own arm (on the other neck's side). Can this be transitioned to a shoulder breaking move? How would it be called?

yeah this works just like a normal sankaku (triangle choke) but with your arms. And like other person say, its a blood choke.

not at all, kata-gatame is an Arm triangle choke in a “standar” position. And anaconda is in a “north-south” position

@@dariosebastian117 seated kata gatame is literally the same as anaconda just diff grips. finishing mechanic is the exact same tho. but a standard anaconda is also not done from north south. Itd be front headlock.

@@rodrigotellom It's a choke but should adjust some detail. Can be done from standing. But mostly, in Kesa-Gatame.
