"Dear god, Please give me one last ounce of strength. I won't run away from things anymore. From tomorrow, I will look at people's faces. From tomorrow, I'll listen to their voices. From tomorrow, I'll be better." I was struggling with depression when my friends dragged my ass out to watch this movie, and I don't know why that scene actually made me cry after years of pretty much being emotionally absent. Truly a masterpiece.

this movie wasn't a romance, it was a redemption journey. ever since I can remember I hadn't felt my emotions, rather ignored them because I couldn't understand them. having autism, I was bullied so I stopped trying. then hit the other side of it bullying others. but the whole time I was just alone, no matter how much friends I had. all because I was scared as hell of being hurt like that again. this may not seem like much to anyone but this is the first step toward a better life for me and all those around me. truly an emotional masterpiece that showed my reflection in a profound way

Solaire of Ludomedia They’re about totally different things; Koe no Katachi is about a guy getting everyone to forgive him before he forgives himself and is redeemed as a person, and Kimi No Na Wa is about the longest distance relationship ever because the lovers are separated by time and lack of memory too, but I see why people compare them. Their raw emotional impact of how much they make you feel rather than what they make you feel and why are very comparable. They will both create relentless tears, but for very different reasons.

This movie hits harder to people who have been bullied, betrayed, and people who have anxiety. That last scene really means a lot. He opened his eyes to the world around him and saw that the world can be beautiful, even after you’ve been through so much. I’m only 14, but I’ve experienced all of these things and more. You meet someone that completely changes your life and it makes the world beautiful again. To the people who need this, hear me, it DOES get better. I absolutely promise. You just have to get through it, no matter how.

I wasn't bullied, hurt or betrayed. However, I am alone, I choose to be and even if I didn't want to, the fact remains I am an outsider, therefore, alone. And this is why I can relate to movies such as this so much more. I love being alone, but I do feel lonely as well, it isn't the same as knowing what being bullied feels like, but it gives me a foundation to understand and act upon. I have always wanted to be that 'someone' to someone, but have never gotten the chance. It is only Us, those who know loneliness, that can save another from the same fate. Also as a fellow teenager I hate not being taken seriously because I am 'too young'. Many of Us young people go through so much and anyone who doesn't acknowledge that fact is a fool. The scene where the music plays perfectly represented the change that Ishida went through. The beginning of the piece represented how he could only hear one voice. But when the music changes at 0:43 it represented how he could finally hear and see everyone as themselves, without that monotonous voice nor the X that covers their faces. Truly beautiful! P.S. I like to think that Ishida could've been suffering from social anxiety given his mannerisms and views on people

(whoa late reply my bad) but you're totally right. Ishida, upon getting ostracized after Shoko left, definitely got hit hard with social anxiety / antisocial behavior, along with his feeling of guilt. In a sense, he was deaf to other people's voices, just like Shoko, but in a different way.

I wonder what those of you mourning their deaths think of the trillions of non-human animals, all innocent, who are killed by humans every year for consumption and various other purposes. All of that along with all of the suffering experienced by so many of those non-human animals during the whole process is by far the worst side of humanity, which currently does not deserve to exist. So many more people need to go vegan in order for it to be argued that we do, and I hope that will occur.

It should be absolutely clear I am calling for people to do far better and to stop placing so much value on human lives and so little value on non-human animal lives.

1:49 I never cried during the movie, yet I keep looking back at the last seen, because in some ways.. it's like looking in a mirror. You know that feeling before you cry? The painful pulling in your chest, it's hard to describe. But the last scene did that feeling, the feeling of holding back. I might be overlooking it, but I think that's what the music and scene was trying to imply. Don't hold back. :) **EDIT** I know people won't look at this but I had to get it out. The reason I put a time stamp is because those last couple of notes in the music, give a feeling of release. That's when the tension and painful pull in my chest stops, because I realize everything is alright. It was a great movie, I don't usually watch anime; but I felt compelled to see this, and I'm glad I did.

the composer really knows how to touch you with his music! This is like a tsunamie of emotions. first 40 seconds is like a feeling of nostalgia or something similar, like a build up. And after that the sudden outburst because of the release of pain, or crashing of the wave of emotions, followed by the fading of each instrument! And the last 30 seconds are like somebody telling you its ok now, you are forgiven. Combining that with the scene in the movie was just wow.

I still remember the chills, I was watching this in the cinema alone with only a few people there and i was close to the cinema speaker at first i was just smiling in the ending scene and when that part played (0:45) tears just ran down my face. This OST is just so beautiful!

This song saved my life. Thank you to all who made this beautiful movie happen. I love you Kyo Ani and I love all those who passed in the fire, even thou I don't know you and never will get to, I want you to know you have forever changed my life. I truly love you as fellow humans and I thank you for giving me my will to live again. I tried to leave but something or someone kept me here. Thank you I'll live for me and those whom were taken too early. In Shoko's words "You can change, start now it's not too late" I love you Kyo Ani thanks😭😇🙏

iLuvDiamond lol it's a song from the show Clannad that KyoAni and Naoko Yamada also worked on. I was just using a song from that show that carried immense meaning in the same way that piano melody in this video does. Kinda like the opening piano tune from Up.

Well, we are still here. Kyoto animation studio is gone. All we have is to remember the people that change many things. The redactors that gave us many positive memories from anime, and how we could get over with problems that we had. The list of redactors that have died in wild fire in studio is Kobayashi san chi no maid dragon Violet Evergarden Koe no Katachi Kyoukai no Kanata Free And many others. Let them rest in piece. We are so thankfull for thing that you did to us, the freacking weebs. I hope that Kyoani will be back, happy, and continue to do its things.

What I love about KyoAni's OSTs are that they are very emotionally manipulative, but in a good way. KyoAni knows how to get a cry out of you, there are very subtle notes in this particular OST that just marks the image of the movie's ending into your mind. Its a really beautiful piece.

The transition from the piano to the next part is so beautiful and really lets the person feel the accomplishment that he has done, he feels valued finally, he feels like he should exist and that he is important, and then it slows back down to the piano to remind himself that he is still him, and he had always been valued, he had always been important and there are people that helped him recognise that. This music is beautiful and it doesn’t even have any lyrics. That’s not beauty, that’s magic. Edit: I truly want to thank the people that helped create this masterpiece for helping me see something in myself as well, my heart goes out to those who died in the arson attack, rip, and thank you so so much ❤️❤️

So, for a while, I thought the ending felt a little unearned, until I watched this phenomenal masterpiece last night for the third time in my life. I realized that Shoya definitely earned his ability to look others in the eye, and every other character played a big role in it, as well. Between his new and old friends crying for his return after his coma, to everything he went through to make amends with the girl he bullied and tormented which ultimately led to his inability to look people in the eye. I love this movie with all of my heart, and it speaks to me like nothing else had ever done before. Not just my favorite animated movie of all time, but my favorite movie, in general, ever created.
