Agreed, he is a genius in his products of all the innovation into his later on whatever products, from the Ageras for eg. Then to a one gear Regera which at that time most people including me thought that didn't match what Koenigsegg ethos but he succeeded somehow and then to the Jesko, which has 9 speed LST which he jokingly said he threw all the gears from the Regera to the Jesko, his triplex suspension system etc, seen many of his videos explaining the details of whatever his products, many KZbinrs didn't even really understand 100% of his explanation 🤣. Anyway all 4 of them know what exactly their products were in their visions and all the production process. Not all the bosses would know inside out about the tiny details of what their own products were made of, be it for what purposes, from and how they were made. Let the Lamborghini boss do the talking, he is the one that will definitely be out in this conversation. He only knows to do with the best on how to make another version of his products into another version of the same car.

I think Koenigsegg is the greatest modern car company and hypercar/exotic designer. The sheer amount of detail that goes into their cars and the fact that they manufacture 99% of all of the compinents in their cars(down to bolts, lights, brake calipers, bushings, etc.) Instead of using suppliers really cements how incredible Christian's company is. However and to your point, Gordon Murray is an absolute legend and his pursuit of pure driving pleasure and perfection is unmatched.

Rimac is a joke really. He learned how to appear polite. A spoiled kid with a father who made a big national fraud (taxpayer money) and gave him some of it to play with cars. During high school he told the reporter that the money for his first EV project (arround 100-200k) comes from his launch money. He is a living insult to all Croatian people and a reminder of the war and the people who made money out of it. The only thing he built was an electric bicycle and the company under which he sells it is constantly in the negative. The Nevera, Concept one etc is done by many many engineers, and Mate is not one of them. It's really a disgrace to put him in the same room with this brilliant people.

Dont judge Mate by stories you hear. i have to just open your eyes. Bill Gates didnt invent anything, he just stole and presented other ideas. Where is he now? He is an iT person talking about vaccine and deppopulation. And he is idol to many... If you want a person that is what it is, they say Elon Musk does all, solves problems which no one can and he is what he is presented to be. I personally doubt in it, its such alot of money and so many different huge projects that you gotta question is it Cia, FBI, Nato or God knows who that helps. So Mate, yeah, if he had money before to race cars, you could say, like people do here in Balkan, do drugs, be a playboy or whatever. But no, he was car enthusiast. Then we got his ideas he got from Tesla projects. The rest is History, Rimac is a Huge thing, and he will just be bigger and bigger with time that comes. He did perfect thing at perfect timing. He bought Buggati, God knows what he will do in future. But it will be a bright future no doubt. you talk of war, how many war criminals we all have, that have alot alot of money, what good did they achieve ? What bussiness did they start ? If Mate didnt start Rimac, no one else would, probably for a while, but from Balkan, no one would come close to this in any project, but cars for sure not in this century ! You should be proud. Even if you believe or know the things you wrote are true, his progress and things he did, will do huge things in future no doubt about it. He proved it already.

Briefly met Mate in Montreal just before the Canadian Grand Prix - my son saw a Nevera pass by a couple of blocks up and we chased it down as we knew it would be caught in traffic. He was kind enough to roll the window down for a quick chat before silently rolling off... Epic moment my son will not forget.

I'm not a big fan of John Hennessy but his follow up remark is just as crucial... People like to generically mock that trucks and SUVs don't get used for their actual purpose but that's just not true. A large portion of the.Amercian work force need those trucks and need them to be reliable, capable, and able to be refueled on the fly. Shoot just a commercial mower weighs more than you think and that's just the mower, not the trailer itself or everything else you need. Also in times of emergency (I.E. - Tornados, flooding, hurricanes, ect) which is frequent here those trucks and SUVs actually do matter. Between lack of capable products (Ford Lightning, Cyber Truck, Rivian R1T which could not sustain a mowing company's needs for a day - a low bar to meet), the lack of charging infrastructure, the low turn around times, it's just not possible. Also when an EV motor goes it goes, and that's not a go to Jiffy Lube or AutoZone and sort it out kind of problem, it's in just about all cases a major job costing major money just in parts, the labor charges are going to be insane. I would bet the farm, you take your work Toyota Tundra into the dealer and then take your Cyber Truck into the dealer in any scenario, that Tundra - F150 - RAM - Whatever is gonna be 100 or 1,000 times cheaper.

(Long essay incoming) When Gordon Murray mentioned about how a generation of people might grow up only ever knowing EVs eventually and enjoying them, it reminded me of my own experience with cars when I was younger, particularly BMWs. I grew up during the Chris Bangle era of BMWs, and I loved it to bits! I loved how simple and elegant the 3 Series of the time looked, the 5 Series with the swoopy wing-like headlights, the curvy front end of a 6 Series, etc etc When I grew older and watched clips of car shows airing during the time where those cars were new, that's when I found out how hated those designs were. People were very critical, with some saying it was either boring, ugly, a traitorous departure from traditional BMW design, or all 3 of those things. But to me, the Bangle-era BMW was the BMW I came to recognize first, and it was the BMW design language I loved. As far as I was concerned, that design language was and always will be quintessentially BMW. They may have lost some older fans, but they gained a whole generation of new ones who fell in love with the new design direction and made that generation into people who liked cars, whether it'd be for the drive, the design, or the tech & engineering, or all of those things. Now I'm on the other end of the fence, with the gigantic kidney grills on the new M4, iX, etc. I'm not a gigantic fan of it, in fact imo I think it's pretty ugly. This is probably how older BMW fans felt when the Bangle BMWs came out. But while I don't like it, there's a kid out there who's growing up and loves that design to bits and is gonna be a car guy when they grow up the same way I did. People are gonna say he or she's gonna miss out on the "good old days" , but people said the same thing during my time with BMW and I turned out to love cars still. Maybe I love things in a different way than car guys that came before me, but I love cars all the same, and the new generation of car enthusiasts are gonna go through the same experience too. I might not like what they like, hell I might hate it even, but I guess that, like Gordon Murray mentioned, is a generational thing. If you have fun with things that I personally don't, more power to you! We're allowed to like different things. I hope the younger generation has lots of fun with cars the same way I did, even if our ideas of what's fun are worlds apart. If it feels exciting for you, whether it's with EVs, hydrogen power, net-zero co2 synthetic fuel, or some other new form of alternative fuel we haven't even made yet, then my best wishes go to you and hope you keep enjoying it 👍🏻

have you seen the new mega grills in real life? I admit I hated it when i saw the first release pictures but when I saw it in real life, it was stunning. I was like "hmph, not bad! And when you're saying 3 series, are you talking about the e46 or E90? the e46 is in my opinion the most influential BMW of all time, the fact that they're such versatile cars and you still see them everywhere in the road for being 20+ years old at this point, plus the massive fan base.

Spellbinding from start to finish! 4 automotive legends chatting about cars. Gordon really is the legend among legends though. Not only did he create the greatest car of all time but he's designed multiple championship winning F1 cars. Other than designing spacecraft, you can't get much better than that. It's the pinnacle of automotive engineering at least. Anyways, everyone involved in the making of this video should be very proud. Hopefully we can get a Part 2 with Mr. Pagani someday!

This panel was so amazing. I would love to hear more from these visionaries. Christian's POV on all questions is rational and logical. But his statement on how humans' emotions go in overdrive to own something. Gordon is the best example of passion. His passion has fueled all the contribution to the automotive world. Also, the sense that IC vs EV transition will never be a blip on timeline but a smooth transition/coexistence John's view on failure is such an eye opener for most business owners and CXO people build success invest in people. Mate's relentless pursuit to make EV better but also admiring the contribution Elon has made to EV is so humble. Loved this content. So, much better than just cocky English jokes on TG 😅.

I truly enjoyed listening to these great leaders. All of them have very interesting backgrounds, stories, and perspectives that are inspiring. Mate appears to be such a humble genius. Learned that in addition making and selling the Rimac Nevera & Time Attack Hypercars, he is a supplier of Electric Drive Trains, Infotainment systems, Battery Packs, and components to the OEMs through his Rimac Technology Division. I can see his technology becoming accessible to many car manufactures one day.

For some reason this reminded me of the episode when he tried to point at the best road in the world on the map. "So Jeremy, where is the best hypercar?" "Not here because they are all rednecks and they'll shoot you (points at Hennessy), not here because they are all liberals (points at Koenigsegg), not here because they'll sell your organs (points at Mate), not here because after brexit it's all shit (points at Murray)...." 🤣🤣

All 4 of them are very successful businessmen and engineers with loads of achievements in their portfolio. But no amount of their success dissolved the very essence which drove them to their points in careers at all. They are all car enthusiasts in heart, which we all are. These answers were delightful and it felt like I was listening to 5 people who really likes cars just like us, and I could relate with every point of view they brought up. Amazing video, Top Gear!

Christian Von Koenigsegg’s last words; ”Ultimate freedom tool”. The transmission in the new CC850 is making that freedom tool even more free. It is the biggest thing in the car industry since electric motors. It is pure genius.

Long form content is really coming back. I love that you can now hear the entire thought process and arguments. I also thought it very revealing that each of these gentlemen would put their last tank of gas into fun analog cars. That should tell people something. One of my cars is a 2001 Miata. There’s a reason people love simple, fun cars that have loads of character.

Just finished watching, and very inspiring. I may not be able to afford a car made by their companies. But this conversation was very natural and very emotional. They are 4 people who live from their passion. I want to be like them, maybe not to make a super car or hyper car. But, being someone who represents ideas becomes something that can be realized. Thanks for inviting them, Top Gear.
