1:26 you have to understand that culturally the generic Indian dancing is primarily focused on having that body language, charm, nuance, smoothness, suppleness ( in Hindi it's called lachak) , expressiveness, sometimes including the enactment of the lyrics because people tend to copy it while celebrating performing enjoying, because then it increases its commerciality too; and less about hardcore hip hop/ locking popping etc. So you didn't notice it. 6:04 we Indians always considered him a really good dancer, I don't know why you are saying that, maybe because no one explicitly mentioned it.

In his early career, he was indeed well known for being a great dancer, that was a major part of his public image. But I think i heard him say in an interview that he wanted to move beyond that image and really be seen as a good actor first. So for a while, he started doing less dancing in his movies and started focusing more on acting based roles. And so i guess now people talk more about shahid the actor than shahid the dancer 😅

Shahid Kapoor studied dance and even taught dance before getting a break in the movies. People who say he's not that great a dancer have no sense of rhythm, two left feet and haven't studied any form of dance themselves. As for Nargis Fakhri, she's an American from Queens, NY. She's part Pakistani and part Czech. Much like Katrina Kaif, Elli Avram and Nora Fatehi, they had to dub for them before they could carry dialogues in Indian languages. With time, people get better... Nargis had a cameo in Spy (the one with Melissa McCarthy).

If you want to watch a Shahid Kapoor movie, watch 'Haider'. It's a modern day adaptation of Hamlet set in Kashmir and the best at it. The songs and film score are composed by Vishal Bhardwaj who is also the director, writer and producer of this masterpiece of a movie both musically and cinematically. The soundtrack has nine songs whose lyrics are penned by Gulzar, except for 2 songs "Gulon Mein Rang Bhare" and "Aaj Ke Naam" that were written by Faiz Ahmed Faiz. All the actors are legends of the Hindi film industry like Kay Kay Menon as the uncle/Claudius, Tabu as the mother/Gertrude and the late great Irrfan Khan as Roohdar/ghost. Tbh, you should watch this period.

Not speaking hindi and working in bollywood isn't an uncommon thing at all. India has a million languages so a lot of times even famous actors in other industries like in the South will do a bollywood movie and be dubbed. Some of the most iconic actresses like Sridevi and Hema Malini spent the peak of their careers in bollywood being dubbed. Deepika Padukone was dubbed in her first ever movie with SRK because her Hindi was weak then. Katrina Kaif was dubbed earlier in her career too before her Hindi was strong enough to dub her own movies. Back in the day, directors would even choose to dub the lead actress using a dubbing artist if they decided they didn't like their voice. A lot of Hindi film actors will also do movies in industries in the south and be dubbed in their languages too. It isn't considered a big deal by Indian audiences because there are so many languages in india and because Indian movies generally dub their dialogues in post production anyways (whether it's the actors doing their own lines or not)....unlike in Hollywood where the dialogue recorded from shooting is usually used. Also accent/dialect/delivery is a bigger deal in India than in western movies when it comes to measuring the "quality" of a performance because there is so much variation region to region. It's jarring to non-indian people because they aren't used to it but a lot of times it's even considered admirable if someone is willing to put in the work to learn a new language to work in the industry (the way Sridevi, Katrina Kaif, Hema Malini, etc. did). The people that usually have a problem with it are the chronically online Urban desis (who don't understand the history of how film evolved in our country) more than the average Indian moviegoer tbh.
