Being that the Next% are predominantly a road racing shoe, not surprising that you felt the cushioning on a downhill course. I ran with them in Chicago 2019, they were just perfect for me to keep landing barely on mid foot. 3:13:36 for me also a BQ, massive gains from 3:40:02 in Berlin 2018. Great video. Thank you.

In addition to feeling extremely happy for you, I want to let you know that seeing your Strava timing completely inspired me. I found your channel a few months back looking for shoe reviews when I started my training. It was the coolest thing to follow your journey, seeing how you trained with commutes, and reaching BQ time just miles away from where I live. You may (or may not) have started vlogging with an intention to stay committed, but at least for me, it's the story I refer and look up to again and again as an non-elite. So truly, thank you.

Amazing video and fantastic race! (Turns out that the Pacific Northwest has pretty spectacular weather from May - October...but don’t tell anyone! 😀 ) At a 2000 foot drop, no uphills, and running at low-3 hour pace, the course probably gives you around 15 seconds per mile, so you would have still BQ’d on a flat course. That’s great! One small suggestion- always make sure you have elapsed time as one of your data fields.

Congrats again, I was so excited about your BQ that I even told my wife, although she had no clue what I was talking about😂😂😂 It would be nice if you could do a recap of your (short) training plan. What surprises me the most is that you didn’t seem to have had many speed workouts in prep for this race, despite the week in Arizona with loads of hills... I am following another youtuber who had a much more robust training plan (since Oct18) and failed two attempts for Boston this year. The main difference between you two seem to be the weekly milage, which makes me believe more and more that is a huge factor when aiming fast 26.2s. Anyways, congrats, congrats, congrats, can’t say that enough!!! And thanks for carrying us with you through this amazing season!!!
@kofuzi
@kofuzi 5 жыл бұрын
I will have something like that coming up soon. Many Chicago training plans have started this week. But my training plan for Chicago won't start for another 7 or 8 weeks. I think weekly mileage is key. Keep in mind that I'm no coach. But speedwork, as far as the marathon is concerned, is more about confidence.

Congrats on the BQ, man. That's really awesome. Didn't even know you're 39 already. You look so young. I think there's still a lottery on who gets to run the Boston Marathon so good luck with that. i thought it was strictly time based, so i'll have to look into that
@WawaSC
@WawaSC 5 жыл бұрын
@@kofuzi Yeah. It's mostly time based but I think they still segment it. Like, those who get sub 3:00:00 gets priority. Then if there's space, they open it up to sub 03:05:00 or something like that. Never done the run but this is what I saw on their site. You'll still get in, though. Sub 03:02:00 is not easy.

my concern was that I didn't want to take anything away from any of the other runners. the error was corrected rather quickly, so i hope that none of the women ever even realized what happened

@@kofuzi well hopefully the figure out what happened and fixed it so they don't make the same mistake twice. BTW My above comment what sarcasm.

I thought about really chopping this video down, as I think most people won't want to hear so much of it, but I was thinking that you guys that are here every day might appreciate my fuller thoughts. So I annotated it by time in the description.

You should look into a Garmin datafield called Race Screen. It allows you to calibrate your run based on makers you see by snapping to the nearest mile and recalculating all of your pace and predicted race finish time. You can get it from the Garmin App Store.
@kofuzi
@kofuzi 5 жыл бұрын
I'm aware of such a data field, but I don't like the idea of having screens on race day that are different than every other day. That being said, it could be useful to know when I am going to finish my run on a more regular basis

kofuzi when I hit that later part of longer races I think I go into a trance... that’s when I pray my training takes over until I wake up... kind of like when NASA loses contact with the Astronauts on reentry... then they come back... (don’t know if that makes sense!) but I definitely realize I’ve checked out when I can’t figure time distance! That’s when I start trying to wake up.... lol...

Yeah you did amazing Michael, I think just running in that incredible natural environment, must inspire you & take your mind off the pains, I think if you had a massage 3 o4 days before the marathon you wouldn’t get the burning legs, try it you’ll be amazed, think you would have been the only one in the race with the selfie stick, I think by you filming the race is good advertising for the event, probably find there will be heaps more people the next year, because of your filming haha 👍🏃🏽‍♀️🏃🏼‍♂️🐅✌️🦶👣🤳
