Thanks for mentioning the smell. I'm sensitive to odors, so I avoid chemical smells. It's a problem with cheaper colored pencils. But I do love cedar wood scent, which is what better-quality colored pencils smell like :)

If you don’t like the odour of the graphite led you can always change it after all is a mechanical pencil Even if you would loved the odour of it the lead it will finish anyway in one day and you have to order new lead You can order lead from Faber Castell same size and a nice odour

I bought today the "koh-i-noor versatil" and had no idea about all the fantastic features it has and your video is the one that helped me so much. I can't believe they have sharpeners(I would've never figured it out by myself), it's amazing and I love it! Thank you for making this video!!

I had this type of pens way back 30 years ago and I remember that I loved them so much. Other kids in school were struggling with cheep wooden pencils, they went crazy while trying to sharpen them and the tip of the led would always chip off or break... Yes, the "hidden" sharpener is working perfectly good, but it is easier to use if you hold the sharpener and to twist the pen... And even if you manage to break that lid inside you can continue using it almost until it gets only 5mm long. I remember buying a set of wooden color pencils and taking them apart to extract the led (a surprisingly easy thing to do) and use it with this pencil. Also, there is no need to play with the "grappling hook" and to constantly retract the led back inside. Set it up how you like it and leave it until it's time to set the length again...

KOH-I-NOOR HARDTMUTH is one of the world's leading manufacturers and distributors of premium stationery for artists, schools and offices. The company was founded by Josef Hardtmuth in 1790 in Vienna; however, graphite mine production was relocated to České Budějovice in 1848. Over time, KOH-I-NOOR pencils managed to achieve great success at a number of world exhibitions. The products were awarded in many world exhibitions, to name a few, 1855 in New York, 1856, 1900 and 1925 in Paris, 1862 in London, 1882 in Vienna and 1905 in Milan.

You would think such an esteemed company would be above including an ineffectual eraser as some kind of bizarre practical joke, but you’d be quite wrong about that.

The eraser is a gift. The lead is like crayon lead, it's not meant to be erasable. I use old Versatiles, like many decades old, and I'm still surprised how well they work. :)

@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess Hard to say, 0.5mm mechanical pencils came later I guess and these are basically indestructible. My grandparents used them for crosswords, notetaking, hand calculations and basically everything. I used them early in elemetary school. Hidden feature is that tube can be used for blowing small paper balls, rice, orange peel and other stuff at schoolmates :-)

Not a gift; rather - a cruel joke at the buyer’s expense.

I think the pronunciation is 'Koe- ee- newr'. At least that's how I say it. That smell is the paint on the barrels. I remember the same smell being on yellow school pencils when I was growing up. It's a very durable paint. I've had a set for a couple years and really like the sturdy old school feel of them.

I don't know what is the original pronounciation of the brilliant's name, but Koh-i-noor is a czech company and we pronounce it: Ko (like in coffee) hi (like in Himalaya) nor (like in Norway) (Bára said it correctly, i'm just making it more clear)
@reginaldforthright8056 ай бұрын
In the usa we call it “kweener,” but the name is in some fabulous Persian dialect, referring to a fabled Indian diamond won by the British. Why a Czech company would choose it, idk.

I got few old ones that were made in Czechoslovakia from my grandparents. Fun fact: these pencils are Czech invention.

@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess Czech are slavic people, not German. And Koh-i-noor is still Czech company.
@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess3 жыл бұрын
@@magdao.9612 Czech is a Slavic language alright, but many Czech are ethnically Germanic. Not only Czechoslovakia is a member of the Austro-Hungarian empire, there are German dialects spoken in Czech republic, like in Bohemia region However, that doesn't matter to much anyway, because Germanics, Slavics, Baltics, Celtics, we're all pretty much the same ethnic group, Indo-Europeans, the I.E languages are all related and descend from Proto-I.E the common ancestor of the I.E family And while some languages in Europe like Hungarian, Finnish, Estonian, etc cetera, aren't Indo-European languages, the population are genetically. Many Hungarians are Germanics or Slavics ethnically

@@MybeautifulandamazingPrincess In fact, all of us here in Central Europe are descended from Neanderthals. So says the new science of archaeogenetics. But you are right that we Czechs and Moravians are really Upper German peoples culturally.

I didn't notice a strong crayon smell. There was a lead smell, but that could have been because I had them stored with the large Koh-I-Noor lead pencil.

White Glove Reviews thank you so much! I didn’t expect you to respond. I’ve been looking for these, since I lost mine (which was a family heirloom) a couple days ago. They’re kinda hard to find unless you’re looking for “clutch based lead holder”. Even though the actual name for the pencil type is “ratchet based”
