oh boy i hope this game does good, ive been with it from the start and i'm very excited to see what adrive and the rest of his team have in store!

While I do think that's too much box chaff, I feel indie TCGs should have more than the big TCGs. It's a bit more of a hassle to get products, and giving away your chaff is a great way to get a friend into the game with zero financial investment. I do like the idea of a chance at another rare, it adds more "pack fun" while keeping the ultra-rare full arts and stellars rare. I met aDrive at a different event, and he brought his personal bulk to let people build something unique, even if they only bought 1 starter deck like I did. He even brought some Frostfall bulk before the set shipped so I was among the first to get Frostfall cards. The generousness is part of who he is, and I think it's the secret ingredient to Elestrals' success.

also btw not trying to correct you or anything, but the three last elements are actually officially called "frost" (hence the set name), "solar," and "lunar" instead of "ice, light and dark."

I am a sucker of anything elemental themed so Elestrals has really caught my eye. I might actually try it out sooner or later

Love the idea of "skinny [booster] boxes". We definitely need less card chaff in TCGs, to reduce environmental waste and sunk costs. Makes me wonder if the average price of cards in the secondary market increase in value too if we had smaller booster boxes...

I'm with you on the box thing. The base set has a similar issue even though the set is a little bigger than Frostfall. I have absolutely no desire to buy a second box because I have at least one of most rares and I don't want to spend all that money to maybe get the other rares, and that's assuming I even use them in a deck! You can also get 1-2 playsets of staples by getting all the starters, which also net you some exclusives to boot. Super generous, but I gotta wonder how LGSes will feel if enough people realize this.

Thanks for giving my favorite game more time! I definitely agree there is too much pack chaff. If the goal is more accessible, Less packs with less card but a lower price so people can choose if they want everything and extra or just want to rip some of the new set

A note about the product being generous... This is a game built so that a kid could actually get into it. You're not expected to crack open multiple booster boxes per set. You're expected to get a few packs at a time! Plus the extra cards makes it easier to build extra decks to get friends into the game too

I mean it depends of the kind of chaff cause it boilds down to how useful the extra cards are in the game, cause one thing is having a vanilla that does next to nothing to a card that can help a certain archetype that is built with multiple variants-you can also sell it or give it away to someone that needs the pieces for their starter deck to up their stuff. I do agree on the take on the box

I’m so glad you talk about the box chafe. That’s something that always drove me crazy buying Yugioh and (bless their hearts) Exodus, and I never knew why exactly

aDrive did add in the reverse stellars for a bit more on the rare card side. As for the chaff, part of me is wondering if Dan is future thinking in the sense of once Elestrals is in more LGS than the chaff will have somewhere to go even if it is the brick style of packaging LGS are known to do. The other thing is the only pack style being sold through the main Elestral shop is the blister packs. Individual packs straight from the booster boxes are not sold and even Shattered Stars comes in a group of three. LGS are free to sell Elestrals by the pack. Even with the three additional packs for the starter decks, which were designed to give variety for the decks, I believe the extra $5 is still a great value since you basically getting three packs at half price.

If me and a buddy get a box can we both make half decent decks out of all the extra stuff? that would make the volume of box chaff feel good

The problem is that you’re getting unnecessary copies of “ common cards” While you are still missing out on rare cards meaning if you buy another box to attempt to get more rare cards The extra cards kind of become over bearing this would only be a good thing if the Rare we’re also easily collectible by opening packs, just as the common cards are but they are not . Also even if you could make extra decks it would literally be identical to the deck you already made with the rare cards which would make the deck worse. Meaning one of you are going to be stuck with an Inferior deck Which will feel like the absolute worst

The new starter decks are actually looking VERY competitive. As well, while limited isn't explicitly supported, people are playing it and having a good time (the colour system really helps). You'd need some spirits (lands) too but they use different sleeves so you could proxy those.

So: A) Increase the cards in the set. B) Decrease the number of cards per pack. Or C) Decrease the number of packs per box.

Set size is one of my biggest complaints with this game. Boxes are $100-$130. Feels awful.

The starter boxes could contain only commons. The booster packs could contain commons, uncommons, and rares. However, the rarity for the commons found in both the starter and booster packs. These commons would actually be more rare than the rares in the booster packs.

I asked someone who has played both the games I found this one is more streamlined in Pokémon. Sure Pokémon Creature designs are better but Elestrals TCG is far better

Gee Rayquaza, I don't think the game looks too hot either but I feel like you might be just a bit biased here. By opening up your mind and heart to more alternative TCGs than just the big 3, you might be able to find something that you personally enjoy and that has a smaller community around it. People like you who call every TCG DOA aren't good for the community as a whole and tend to just be children.
