I’m in zone 6 Pennsylvania and ice is covering my pond already. Small floating heater and air pump to keep hole open and that is it. Filtration all removed, cleaned and ready for next year.👍🏻

I see a lot of pond owners choose to cover the pond instead of letting natural ice cover the top. ice actually acts as an insulator to keep the under water above freezing. But what works for me in zone 6 may or may not work for someone else. Happy Holiday my friend.

Thank you! I’m in zone 4B and I’m a bit afraid of our long stretch of below freezing temps. I thought about not covering this year but I chickened out last minute. I have the pump off now and the only thing I have running is the 315 watts deicer

Always sad to say goodbye to the pond season, now to think about any changes or upgrades for next year.

Yes 😢. Such a short season for me this year and hadn’t spent much time enjoying the pond since busy with home exterior refresh took most of my time.
