While in Japan in ‘94 I stayed with a family who when they found I was a potter took me for a visit to a local potter. He was very gracious and I was treated to tour of his pottery (and tea and snacks!!) The 4 chamber anagama kiln was amazing! Later at my host family’s home a neighbor who was a ceramics collector gifted me with 3 five inch Bizen plates ❤️❤️❤️ I made a display for them when I got home where they remain a treasure visually and in use!!

I never paid much attention to pottery before but after numerous presentations from this gallery I now appreciate the beauty and subtlety of clay work.

I just got back from Okayama last weekend and bought a Bizen pottery flower vase - it was so beautiful but I did not know anything about Bizen the art form, let alone the history behind it. I just felt a deep attraction that I couldnt explain. Your video explained so much, thank you
