How is anyone meant to know what a person didn't say and meant to say? That's just bs backtracking. If you're on TV you have to think ahead what you're saying and how people will hear it. No explanation for the Jay Leno comment. We get it - she liked late night on NBC and Dave was a distant second, she's not a fan. It's in the voice and face expression. This follow-up is just as bad as the original event. CBS were better off with Dave than without him even being mostly #2 in the ratings. 23 years at CBS followed by retirement. Loyal staff that stayed with him from NBC. Barbara Gaines 35 years. Paul Shaffer. Dave is the kind of man that if his name is on the screen, he's going to do all he can to make the show great. Pride and reputation every night. Money can't buy that genuine concern, of course he was very well paid. What a shame for him and his team at the time.
