Well no,I think he expected the trial to reach the point it did,he wanted there to be confusion on who the victim was so Monokuma could potentially make the wrong choice,the real only flaw in his plan was Kaito giving up at the end just to save everyone

He is someone pretty calculative and prepares for every situation possible and always knows what is going to happen, but saihara is the only person who he couldn't predict. He didnt think saihara would solve the whole the mystery, but saihara like always managed to exceed his expectations

Absolutely adore this whole thing but something about the press coming down being colored white really stood out especially. It almost felt like the "light" was getting brighter the closer it got, I don't know if it was intentional but it felt very fitting as a kind of glimpse of the afterlife that he saw as he died. As someone who found kokichi un-enjoyable throughout the game,in this animation I can find myself literally seeing kokichi as what the writers tried to portray him as, the one constantly deciding the deaths of others. The stylistic choices through out this animation felt like an actual killing game, instead the “memey” look kokichis plan and death always had, I love this.

I watched the original so many times that I can remember which scenes look really alike (ex: Maki looking away from Kokichi) Definitely a lot of improvement and creativity is shown! Just like you made pregame Kokichi into a paper puppet cut out and in game Kokichi knocks it over on stage is really charming, and Shuichi having a key to Kokichi's heart on a pad lock was something already shown in the original but it's still such a cute touch. Stop, this made me so sad. I’ve never been able to get over how horrible a death Kokichi imposed on himself. Technically speaking, there’s no reason he couldn’t wait for the poison to kill him, or ask Kaito to kill him before putting him in the press, Monokuma wouldn’t be able to tell either way, yet he straight up chose a gruesome end for himself. And he did it to save a bunch of people who hated his guts. You almost wonder if he wanted to suffer, like he felt bad about everything he had to do to get to that point. I get Kokichi was a jerk, but I can’t believe how many in the fandom actually think he was evil. A lot of his character is open to interpretation, but him being evil just doesn’t fit.

AHHH I WATCHED THE ORIGINAL RELIGIOUSLY (like the amount of times i've watched it is definitely over 50 times) AND I LOVE ALL THE ADJUSTMENTS! I like how there are more colors and scenes, and the way some scenes were improved with more shading, objects, colors, backgrounds, etc!
