I remember watching this when i used to live with my parents, i always thought Gopi's character was very unrealistic, literally no one is that "innocent" or "selfless" as they tried to portray her. Rashi was more realistic, her character had more depth, she was selfish but had moments of love and care towards her husband. She was rude and cunning but never pure evil.

I absolutely loved Rashi's character and I immediately quit when they killed her off. It was definitely unnecessary but her ending/sacrifice was well written. In fact, I was more invested in Jigar's side of the family the whole time. Rashi's mom was definitely the evil stepmom stereotype (and a b1tch to Gopi) but she was also quite well written and 'cunning'.

Gopi, the submissive, naive and illiterate woman is the protagonist whereas Rashi, the educated, sharp-minded(not always though, but compared to Gopi, yes) is the villain just because she primarily doesn't prefer to wear sarees. I'm going to be honest - I always loved Rashi and hated Gopi like anything. And I preferred Rashi and Jigar's marriage life over this toxic relationship between Gopi and Ahem. Oh and another reason why Rashi is supposed to be the villain is that she doesn't know how to cook, which is apparently the only job women are destined to do in their lives, right? I'm not sure whether you have heard of this or not, but in the 1st episode of this show, Kokila ridicules, harrases and insults a suitable woman for Ahem just because she is of modern ideology type and would control Ahem, because Kokila wanted "A woman who would always say yes to me and would have no control over her own husband. Only I have my power over my Ahem Dikra." And the worst part about this whole scene was that the woman's parents weren't even intervening during this. They were just chill. And now in Sasural Simar Ka 2, this same garbage is being portrayed. Like the ideology and thought process of people have changed. We are not in the 1990's where "Ladki ko to sirf rasoi mein khana banane ka kaam hi to hai jab uska pati office jaayega". I don't think you have to be a feminist to understand this. This is common sense. And these shows showcase "Women Empowerment". Ohh the irony!!!! Sorry for typing such a long reply.😅😅

If you notice these kind of shows always starts with such an mind blowing idea, an idea that can guide the society to be a better version of itself. Like if you see the very seed Idea of the show was showing two cousin sisters one educated and another one uneducated, one was good in cooking, household chores and another one was good in other stuff, one was loved by her mother while other didn't get that love treatment. The show could have been more about showing the struggles both kind of women faced in their life before/ after marriage and how did they overcome by helping, taking help from each other and in the process how the changed show's extremists such as Kokila, and the others(that represent a segment of society) to be better and progressive. But sadly it ends-up in becoming cringe worthy, use-less, regressive saas-bahu drama.

true, recently I started to watch Pavitra Rishta for SSR's sake ,but the show is so regressive that it hurts and I had to give up. Archana's sisters are well educated but they end up getting married and are then wrapped in sarees fighting with saas. One of them goes to a office party, a conference, wears a pretty decent dress but without sleeves, tho pura khandaan badnaam!!! Archana for a change gets an education and a proper job, only to leave it and get married to Manav again. Archana is always admired for suffering in silence while her outspoken sister is shown as someone bad. That is the first and las TV serial for me. No wonder SSR quit the show.

I'm a south indian and I normally watch less hindi serials. I used to love "kum kum bhagya" a lot... But the story is just keep dragging dragging and I stopped watching... That's why I shifted to korean dramas... They are the best.. The plot of this serial is truly mind numbing. Each dialogue emphasized with special effects which raise our blood pressure by watching each episode. The show raises something primal, something innate in the viewers that keep them glued to the screen, even though they themselves understand the stupidity of the show. Characters die off and come back as to the plot's liking and the main characters do not age a day over the course of decades. Ahem dies off and all of a sudden he has a half brother who looks EXACTLY like Ahem? This means Parag cheated on Kokila with another woman. No one talks at the right time, everyone keeps quiet and lets shit build up. The entire suspense in each episode is not having said the right words at the right time. Yet the show is wildly successful, and dare I say made it's mark in Indian soap operas. The same shit goes on with updated technologies and characters and makeup. A very curious case indeed.

CRAZY IN BOLD. my mom used to watch it religiously and i used to be like 🗿👁️👄👁️ at the ridiculousness. but now that the show is over is when i realise it was more than just ridiculous, it was just. out of this world. just to keep the show running for 7 years- it took them like, killing and riving Gopi almost 8 times, then she literally threw one of her daughters, accidentally, in the river, then she also had another son (idk from where) who lived abroad, then gopi's mother/family came back and somehow they became villain ???????????????and kokila was forced in chaul (where Rashi used to live earlier) and were exploited. the exploitation was so heavy that kokila was dragged on roads while tied to a car and made to dance on glass! then ahem ji died and his LOOK ALIKE came and they again had a love story. till now if you count all the time skips the story should be going on like, AT LEAST, 30 years in the future and Gopi should be on wheelchair because of her old age but even after her kids being close to 30 she looked like 35 year old to me. Okay i understand that the show was made in 2010 (which was not a long time back but okay understandable) but it's not like they have progressed even in 2021! They still show the ghisa pita concept of a woman happily leaving her parents, career and aspirations after getting married to serve her husband and in- laws.
