I had a roommate once that would always leave her clothes in the washing machine. It was in unit, in a little room attached to the kitchen, as easy as it could possible be. She would wash them, then leave them in there for days, so when I came to do mine, there would always be mildew ridden clothes. It was baffling, the dryer was 2 feet away and it was all free. I actually had to run the washing machine empty a few times just to clean it. I started taking them out and leaving them on top of the washer and she got mad at me for not drying them for her and when I told her I'm not her mother, she got mad at me for touching them at all because I'm male and just wanted to "play with her underwear". She would do random things like refuse to take out the trash or call maintenance if something went wrong. So one day I got fed up and decided to stop taking the trash out and see how long it took her to do it. Two weeks. Trash was literally piling around the trash can. It was horrible, but I stood my ground. Finally I got home from class one day and it was all gone. Never happened again after that 😂. Another time we had a pipe leak under the sink and flood the kitchen. I came home one day and stepped in a puddle of water and asked her if she spilled something. She just casually mentioned the sink was leaking, and when I opened the cabinet the entire thing was soaking wet and water was spilling onto the floor. I asked her if she called anyone and she said no because she was having people over. I LOST it because I wasn’t paying for the damage bc she couldn’t make a phone call. So I called them and interrupted her little get together with a maintence crew tearing apart our cabinets 😊😊😊😊 she didn’t speak to me for a week 😂

My buddy’s uncle passed away (raging alcoholic) alone and wasn’t found for a few days. I have experience cleaning such things and he asked if I could lend a hand. His mom really just wanted to track down any important papers. He lived in a small run down trailer that was full of trash in the “lived in” areas. No reason to clean. He passed in the living room which made it impossible to move around the rest of the trailer without walking through man soup. Along with many other adventures this situation put me through, I decided the desk his computer was on would be a good start for the paperwork search. Bunch of trash was in the way of drawers though. Like elbow nearly shoulder deep. Reached in the pile and began pushing it out of the way. While clearing a path I found a few papers…on closer inspection I figured out they were printed (yes printed) porn pics. Got a little giggle and carried on. We all do it, not going to judge. Then I realized the huge pile of trash was…homogenous? It was all bits of soft paper rolled up…bits of toilet paper. While elbow deep (short sleeves) it hit me. This was his spank station, and just like the Busch light cans he wouldn’t throw away, these were his gene catchers. Still haven’t lived that down. Never seen a woman (my friend’s mom) laugh so hard the day after losing a loved one when she heard me tell my buddy why I was scrubbing my arms. Glad I could make you laugh that day Barb, RIP. Ugh.

Had a thing for my friend and my logic at the time was 'a mouths a mouth so win-win' (i know...), and genuinely meant it as a 'let me know' type thing. My friends made a private group chat and basically just set the record straight. "We're straight, not interested in anything like that and won't ever be, so don't ask again" (the gist of it) and to this day, nearly 10 years later I'm extremely grateful. Learned a lot about boundaries from that and I've been extremely careful with that kind of thing since. They're also still my best friends :D If they decided to make a public reddit post about it instead of just talking to me, it would've been infinitely less productive and way more embarrassing, for what that's worth.

My wife has one of those goofy crystal mommy salt lamps, every once in a while when its on I'll enter the room, lick it, and then exclaim "AGH!!! ITS SALTY!" Like ' *yea, no shit* ' but it gets her all riled up so I love doing it :)

I felt this episode. My roommate was my “best friend” and we had agreed on how everything was going to go before she moved in. The minute she moved in she was doing the exact opposite. So I started setting boundaries, making visuals of things she needed to do and bills she needed to pay, and refused to be the sole provider of food when a lot was going to waste because she would just buy fast food anyway. This girl proceeded to play victim, although I’m not saying that I handled her bs with poise, and tried to turn my friends on me. When that failed she up and left and I had to scramble for rent until the lease was up. This was 3 months into a 15 month lease. I’m never getting a roommate again nor am I moving out again until I can completely pay for everything.
@darnarxz7 ай бұрын
I would try it again if you really want to leave home. I've had a lease where everyone was responsible for their own part of the rent. When people left during the lease, they usually went out of their way to find a replacement, so they weren't on the hook for rent. The whole food part is foreign to me though. When I had roommates, we've always just had our own food and cooked for ourselves.

I had a vietnamese roommate in my college flat. She was such a lovely person but god damn she loved vinegar and everything vinegary. I couldn't use our fridge coz the flavour of vinegar would seep through everything. In the end I had just couple things in air tight containers. Sadly the first time I had to learn the hard way and I poured unknowingly vinegar milk into my choco cereal and GAGGED so hard when eating. Now I live in my own flat and could not be happier about it.

The shower shit guy is absolutely WILD. He's not even ashamed. I had a roommate who was so taken by fluoridation conspiracies that he used bottled water for everything. He'd keep flats of bottles in the kitchen and empty like twenty of them at a time into a pot to boil water for pasta, to make tea, everything. And it's not like he had an excuse like being from an underserved community with bad water or anything, bro was born and raised in the Greater Toronto Area lmao.

I knew a kid who wiped his ass with the shower curtains because he ran out of toilet paper and instead of calling one of his 4 family members to bring another roll he used the shower curtains and left it there until someone else went in to find it. Then after that he didn’t say anything at all about the why he did that. Just never talked about it.
@eevee24117 ай бұрын
Honestly this makes me sad more than anything. Why would he not ask his family members? Sounds to me like he's either terrified of their response or has a communication issue (autism for example, not knowing how to ask/communicate needs) that isn't being worked on. Like yea it's weird but also that's on his parents and probably shows he's not in a safe home.
