Eliud Kipchoge may be the greatest Marathon runner of all time. But to me Kenenisa Bekele is the greatest runner of all time. If you combine what he did in the 5k &10k, & add the cross country stuff, plus the road races, plus the 6 world records. Its hard not to rank Kenenisa Bekele as the greatest runner who ever lived.

Should not have held the elite race on the same track as the amateur run.... Really bad organization for elite race. If you are advertising this run as the first international race of India then you should also have planned it that way. But really happy to see that there are people making an effort to take long distance running in India to the next level

Bekele would have run a bit faster if he had more competition. He does have a heck of a long stride for a relatively short runner. 35 years old is not too old for distance running. If everything goes well for him he can make another run at the world record in the marathon. I wonder why he has not tried to set a world record in the half marathon.

Great to see India is starting to put on some world class races. Don't worry about how amateurish it looked when it comes to organisation. Everyone goes through a learning curve when first starting something new. They will improve how they organise thing. The one thing is that they should never put two different distances on the same course. I'm sure they will change that for next year. Either two separate courses, or better, change the 10K starting time so that there is no conflict with the Elite runners.

@stevestarr97697 жыл бұрын
I say he hasn't mastered the marathon only in terms of wins/losses/DNF's. Bekele’s marathon stat line - 8 starts, 2 wins, 3 DNFs......compared to Eliud Kipchoge: 9 wins and 1 loss. I'm not calling him a 2:14 marathoner, but in direct comparison to the absolute best--Kipchoge--his record of win/loses and DNF's does indeed show that there is something not quite right.
@Sudipto17Kolkata7 жыл бұрын
I get what you are saying now. Yes compared to Kipchoge he is not consistent enough in marathons. He is more injury prone now due to an imbalance in his two calves and his lack of seriousness to come out of that with specific exercises. His Dutch agent thinks he is not serious enough about running and must decide whether he wants to be a marathoner or a hotelier. I think he is keen to break the world record and take it easy after that.
