Kolkata Doctor Rape & Murder: Did Victim Know Something? | ISH News

The tragic case of a postgraduate trainee doctor from Kolkata, who was allegedly raped and murdered at RG Kar Medical College, has shocked the nation. The news has gone viral, and ISH News has released several videos covering the case:

The victim's father shared his distress, stating that while the Chief Minister (CM) speaks of justice, those demanding it are being threatened with jail. He expressed dissatisfaction with the CM and the ongoing investigation, adding that no one from the hospital or department cooperated with them.
Her mother revealed that the victim had expressed reluctance to go to the hospital in the days before the attack. She believes more people are involved in the crime and accused the entire department of being responsible. She also criticized the state’s schemes like Kanyashree and Lakshmi, questioning their effectiveness in protecting women.
A colleague of the victim questioned how the accused, Sanjay Roy, knew she was alone in the seminar hall, suspecting a larger conspiracy. Another colleague claimed she might have been targeted for knowing too much, possibly about a drug racket.
The victim's father doubted if his daughter was killed in the seminar hall, pointing out lapses by the police and requesting a CBI investigation. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is now probing the case from all angles, including conducting a psychological test of the prime suspect, Sanjay Roy, and questioning the former head of RG Kar Medical College.
The Supreme Court will hear a suo motu plea related to this case on August 20, 2024.
On August 16, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee led a protest rally demanding capital punishment for the accused, which sparked criticism. Opposition parties and netizens questioned why she was protesting against her own government, as she holds multiple key positions, including Home and Health Ministries.
Union Minister and West Bengal BJP chief Sukanta Majumdar and BJP Women Wing’s Vice President Pooja Kapil Mishra criticized Mamata Banerjee’s actions, calling her protest a "drama."
Citizens and the media are still seeking answers from the Mamata Banerjee government:
- The victim had 14 wounds, and her lower body was uncovered. Why did the hospital say it was a suicide?
- Why did the family have to beg to see their daughter’s body?
- Has the Kolkata police taken any action against the principal for revealing the victim’s name?
- How did the state government give the principal a new job so quickly despite the charges against him?
- Why were renovations allowed at the crime scene during an ongoing investigation?
