This right here is the farthest thing from hard work. Go watch a boman do it's thing. U can take 20 minute naps between these turns. U get no breaks workin a Boman

Wow the rigging crew could have packed that turn out faster than the yarder did 🤣

Agreed!! ..gave the 2 toot.. "it's all you", got the bird lippin'.. no tension on the turn and lose two logs out the kinky choker, then have to coax him all the way to the landing :/ ..**listen for the car to smash into the tower**.. it gets 3 tooted in the landing with a turn in the air.. releasing both line clamps at once, with full brakes to the skid line.. BOOM, like slung out of a catapult!! ..me just shaking my head :0 ..and dodging whipping choker bells!!

Stupid question. So these beeps are to tell someone at the controls what needs to be done since they are unable to see the site correct? Or is it a pattern for a computer/sensor to interpret and it automatically does whatever the toots are commanding? Super curious but super dumb when it comes to logging.

Both, the yarder whistles he's blowing (the echo-y far away ones you hear) are being listened to by the yarder engineer up on the landing, they tell him which lines to pull or slack cuz he cant be seeing that shit, youre exactly right. and the closer up shallow beeps which are coming from the car are listened to by the cars computer, they're for the line clamping and slacking functions

You can also pull your yarder whistle up and speak into the bottom of the handle. The donkey puncher will be able to hear you, but he can't talk back to us. We even had a whistle for "cocksucker" Blow that and people are fighting. Had to learn like 50 different whistles. The other is to send signals to the carriage. We sometimes used an eagle carriage that was also completely controlled by the donkey puncher. That was a pain in the ass and scared me to death. These things weigh as much as a Volkswagen and love to fall from the sky unexpectedly. Or not clamp properly. I was almost decapitated and dragged down a mountain due to the eagle not clamping. Choker bell hit me so hard it snapped my hardhat in half. One seriously humbling job. The most dangerous in the world in fact.

Why do you log little tight corridors??
@redlinetimber
@redlinetimber 5 жыл бұрын
..was mostly a thinning setting ..and then there's the wildlife corridors in between the clearing sets. I sling 'em and set 'em the way it's laid out, all part of the fun

Jesus. How are these guys making any money?? I was the best rigging slinger that ever lived back in the late 1900’s. We had two guys in the brush, 6 chokers each and if you weren’t sending a bonus or a tronos on at least 2 of your chokers each turn…..step into my office cause your fuckin fired!!!

Medium rare.. 6-8 min a side! ..pulled two guy stumps, tipped the Yarder over, car hits ground, pukes oil all over and catch's on fire.. that was a long day! NEVER let the someone chain the mainline drum to keep it from slipping and check your guy stumps every road change!
