It's a very Euro-centric video. You'd think there was no war in the Americas until 1521 when it's quite the opposite. In fact, one factor in the Inca defeat was the weaker military, because they had just ended a war with neighbor tribes.

Not really. Europe actually gets the gold medal for most wars out of any region according to most historians. That's part of the reason Europeans have always had the most advanced weapons, even to this day.
@IgnacM991

Don't so naive guys, the Europe seems so warlike from the beginning, because the european history is well known and recorded. Do you believe that the native inhabitants of Africa or both Americas were peaceful hippies? They were constantly trying to beat the shit out of each other, remember that the Cortez conquered the Aztecs with the hands of their neighbours. The struggle for power was also strong in so called Far East, the Japans, Mongols or Chinese weren't playing chess with their adversaries to resolve their disputes...
@ymhktravel
@ymhktravel 10 жыл бұрын
East asian histories are well documented too. Just that the maker of this video is probably a European who studies only European history and so knows very little of other parts of the world. That being the case, the title should be renamed to "wars of Europe", instead of "...the World".

IgnacM991 Actually Americas natives weren't attacking other tribes unless they did something affecting theirs. So no Europeans really took that gold power really seriously and stealing China's invention of powder to make guns only to control and dominate other lands and wash in more gold affected the world badly in terms of wars. Cortes* convinced the neighbor areas because he promised important positions and gold for them again there is the greediness of mankind affecting in the world and who did it? Europeans. Since powder didn't exist in the Americas I bet if the fat greedy invasion wouldn't happen it would be a more peaceful place.

My world history teacher showed this to us one time for "fun." Just as the 1800s started around 3:40, she said "Here comes Napoleon!" and then the continent of Europe disappeared under explosions. If anything, I think this video conveys the idea of the waste of life that is associated with war better than any book or documentary. You see large explosions, signifying tens of thousands of deaths and you ask "what was THAT for???" A pretty sobering experience.

French and Indian, and the War of 1812 (Both of which it was still mostly a British colony) are the only ones that come to mind, excluding Native American skirmishes. Most of the wars Canada has been in is because the UK went to war. Canada being a commonwealth nation had an obligation to join them if they did, right up until 1982, though I guess technically they still have to due to both being in NATO.

André Rebelo I don't know. You are right on that it would be like a fairy tale, but that's only because we are used to see starving children, genocide and mutilated corpses on tv, we see it so much so we aren't worried or horrified by death until it hits enough people for us to care. And because it happens so often, a lot of people have to die before we give a damn.

Brendan Risney Yup, look at Britain in the 1640's. That's when we had our civil war. The Democratic parliament against the absolute monarchy of the king. Eventually parliament won and chopped the king's head off and got rid of the monarchy for a decade or so before realising we weren't ready to give up the whole monarchy just yet, only that git of a king, so we restored the monarchy but on our terms and they knew their place ever since as just a symbol and a figure head without having much power at all. During that time without the monarchy though, the puritan religious movement took control of the government and got all religiously extreme about things. They even banned Christmas at one point, wankers. So eventually we had enough of the religious nut cases and sent them across the Atlantic to America. The rest is history... you're welcome to them. the clip on here of Greg Proops "America is England's fault" explains it so well, lol. Worth a watch and a laugh.

Why Europe has the most. 1: Europe had an obsession with writing everything down, they have the most written history. 2: Europe had organized armies and large-scale battles, while many other regions were still having tribal skirmishes. 3: Europe was the most technologically advanced region for over 1000 years (And thus a more efficient method of killing others). 4: Europe was very compact and densely populated, so fighting over land and/or resources was more likely to occur. 5: From the ages of the Celts, Vikings, Germanic Tribes, etc. up until the end of WW2 European culture has been very battle-centric. I am aware the Mediterranean and Middle East beat Europe to a lot of those, but Europe took them to a whole new level.

cordoba was not the central of science. that is a typical antiwestern, promuslim fake news. aristotoles was already even translated to german. many migratants from byzanze came. the first genocid on jews in europe was done by muslims (grenada). and the real next archtecture/construction invention was the gothic style (which was also introducing new technics). islam never invented anything new in archtecture (only ornamentic), just used older roman, byzantic, persian styles. the reality is that the more the middle east (where still many christian and jews lived and persian/roman/greek influences) got muslim the more the civilization/science/innovation level declined (same is true for today. no religion creates less inventions but is at the same time most homophobic, has lowest women rights, has most antizionism/antisemitism. the first genoicde on jews in europe was by islam (grenada). islam was 'the' slavery religion and continued (together with africans) in africa as well doing so. before 300000 went to usa (agai with african and islam support) there were over 1 mio. slaves taken from europe to africa btw... and so on .. it was the west which stopped slavery (often against islam, the last region which still has real slavery btw.). female genital cutting is also part of this very region (everyone can google for all those facts and maps - comparing the world. also look in which regions you have most startups today... you will over and over see the same pattern).

There's a lot of data that simply isn't included. For example you see Timur's Battle of Ankara but nothing about his battles in India or elsewhere. We know about these battles just as well as European battles, they just aren't included in the video. Many of the explosions are misplaced. For example Dien Bien Phu is no where near Vietnam, many battles in Scotland are placed in the North Sea.... It's far from perfect or complete but still cool.

@GehkGekhe
@GehkGekhe Жыл бұрын
Well that's if you put two people together for eternity without anyone else existing for them. They're not just gonna fight, they're gonna express all the feelings that are bond to human nature; they'll have sex, they'll express anger, they'll cry, they'll smile... basically everything. And, among that, they'll also fight for sure. Because fight and war are also bond to human nature. On the day humans become advanced enough to be able to understand their own nature and handle it, many problems will disappear as if they never existed.

Australia became its own country in 1st January 1901, in WWI Australia and New Zealand teamed up to help UK, by fighting in Gallipoli, lots of them died from drowning in the sea. In WWII we did help our allies, but we were bombed by Japan on 19 February 1942 at 10am which was called the bombing of Darwin, but many of the civilians living there moved down south because of the war going on in Asia, but a few did stay, we lost more than 200 civilians that day, but we fought back and stopped Japan from taking that part of Australia, which really is hot and dry. Australia also helped in Afghanistan, and a lot of wars, but since we are apart of the commonwealth if we get attacked, the UK and other countries of the commonwealth will help. (I live in Australia so I know my history)

@dinopad10

Actually, the Middle East was responsible for most of the battles of the 11th-17th centuries.
@101jir
@101jir 8 жыл бұрын
The Middle East has been a battleground since the beginning of human history. IIRC, the very first major battles ever recorded were in North Africa and the Middle East. Everything about the Middle East sets it up for warfare. The elements are harsh, true, but unlike mountains and other terrain deserts are not unsuited to warfare, and offer a great seeing distance which makes it easier for opposing factions to meet each other on the field, instead of simply stealing what they want covertly. Not a impossible for covert ops, but a lot easier than a forest, for example. The Middle East is one of the first places where everything having to do with civilization, from food to draft animals can be found. You can't have "warfare" without "civilizations." There is much, much more regarding why it was one of the first battlegrounds, but there are also a number of reasons why it remains a battleground. For one thing, war begets war. Even if a genocide were to eliminate everyone of a hostile culture, the genocide itself creates suspicion among other factions. As one side feels more threatened and more wronged, they lash out at the perpetrator. Propaganda keeps every culture from seeing itself in too much of a negative light, and a vicious cycle ensues. For the middle centuries, when Asia and Europe increased their interactions with each other, the "Middle East," as it is named for, lies right in the middle of the most viable trading and communication routes. Whomever controls that, controls the interactions between Asia and Europe. There is always something for every century (and I have a feeling that I barely skimmed the surface). Largely just a matter of geography that sets it up for war.
@dinopad10
@dinopad10 8 жыл бұрын
101jir I have a question, purely out of curiosity for your opinion. I respect your knowledge and I think you're 100% correct in your post. So, here's my question: based on what we know about war, especially with WWII, what do you think might happen if the entire world were to commit genocide against a singular entity? I reference WWII because the Nazis were all but wiped out, and I can't think of any suspicion toward any specific group in the aftermath, and yet the Nazis were recognized by the globe as a faction that needed to be eliminated from the face of the Earth. To be extremely blunt, I think Islam as an ideology fits that bill even stronger than Nazis did. To expand on that, many people don't know that Hitler's policies and methods came directly from Imam advisers he had on staff. In fact, "Mein Kampf" has the exact same meaning as "Jihad" and I find it extremely telling that Jews were Hitler's primary target, just like they have been since the beginning of Muslim conquest.

dinopad10 Well, today the internet provides the potential for world-wide propaganda to take root. Thus, I will split the question into "what if it happened this instant" and some other "what ifs." If genocide were to happen this instant, then at first it would be just as controversial as any other issue, depending to a degree on what country it was. The US would not be able to get away with genocide in that even among its own citizens, faith in the US government is low, let alone other countries. Because Russian citizens have such strong faith in their government, the Russians might be able to rebrand their "genocide" as "removing troublemakers" and not only Russians, but Americans and people in other parts of the world would believe them. These are just two examples, but the less believable it is that a country would commit genocide, the more likely they would be to get away with to a very, very limited extent. A first world country would still face severe rioting, but just how out-of-hand it would get would depend on the country. A third world country would face severe embargoes, and possibly military intervention depending on whether the genocide could serve as a rationalization for some other strategic motivation. In short, genocide committed this instant would be fatal for some nations, disastrous for any. However, if through constant propaganda, enough world-wide hatred was garnered against a given ethnicity, we might actually see greater approval for such a genocide than any other time in history. Right now, most ethnicities have enough hatred in the world towards them that they could be on the chopping block in 50-100 years, but it depends on how the tides of propaganda flow. In addition to genocide, there remains the possibility of cultural groups not traditionally considered "ethnicities" being wiped out through violence. I would say that all of the major religions, as well as atheists (not sure about agnostics), face the risk of annihilation in the future if religious tensions remain high. Hebrews face the highest risk of genocide, followed closely by Arabs. Many argue with some justification that these two groups are already in the process of committing genocide against each other, though both sides also have quite a bit of explaining to do. China and Japan have strained relations that come very close to ethnic hatred, though since the source of this resentment is Japanese war crimes in WWII, genocide would be by far the most ironic way for them to take out their resentment of each other in the future. Not that similar ironies haven't happened in history, however. It is just that it would be very tricky to pull off. In any of these cases, there is enough anti-genocidal sentiment today to keep us safe for a long time, at least in first-world countries. However, it is definitely possible that propaganda of the future could increase hatred towards any number of cultural groups enough that the whole world would look away from genocide, or even cheer it on.

pat wana Iraq invaded Kuwait, America saved Kuwait. Saddam committed genocide, America ended his reign. Al Qaeda destroys World Trade Center, America is launched into a depression and the only way to create jobs and revive the economy is taking revenge. To prevent further wars and make sure America isn't the country having to keep the Muslims in check, foreign aid is given to powers loyal to the West (Israel, Lebanon, etc.) America is not responsible for what is going down in the Middle East, Muslims are. Their outdated culture has laid without major Western influence until recently which has sparked these conflicts. Their ways are brutal by today's standards and therefore, countries like America are trying to make them what we consider normal. Blaming America for problems that they didn't cause and are trying to fix is ignorant. Let's see the real outcome: America becomes richer and ends its depression *THAT MUSLIMS CAUSED*, and the Middle East becomes a civilized landscape not a bloodbath of religion.

Texican Gentry America has been its own country for 239 years and out of those years its been at war for 222. Your country is based on the slaughter of 100 million native Americans and the enslavement of 11 million Africans and yet you still point the finger at other nations. I could list all the nations your military has intervened in but it would probably crash your computer. You guys are the ones that put these leaders in place in the middle east and once you take them down it sparks the uprising of militant groups such as Isis. America is the biggest threat to world peace and if you do some actual studying on Islam you will find it is a peaceful religion so stop listening to fox news which fills your head with propaganda. Your government hides a lot from the people so i encourage you to do some reading into the whole America-Islam thing.

Like the Aztecs who warred with all there neighbors and sacrificed 1000's of them a day to make their crops grow for 1000's of years. A lot of those wars in europe didnt have a death toll near that large. Those brutal fuckers even fashioned thier weapons so they would knock people out instead of kill them so they would be able to force them to walk all the to thier home.

In Africa, India and China people were at war with each other for thousands of years. None of those wars are documented though or you can't find enough information about them or people just generally didn't care about all these tribes at war with each other Europe is now in a time of peace. Europe hasn't been at war since almost 70 years if you exclude the Balkan wars. I know that sounds hard for all you Americans who have been in 175 wars/warlike conflicts in the last 200 years and are still not stopping.

Understandably, it's younger ones who are not taught the logistics, situation outside of America, and whatever economics and political events the Brits were dealing with. Latest science developments are always used in wars. Plus, if you look in those 1300's, there isn't much happening also because there were much less people on planet, and we really don't know everything about every war. in last 50 years there isn't any big wars, because we have something to fear - nukes.
