I fell in love with serpents after getting the reap the tides precon. It was fun playing with other decks from the set but i soon took that deck apart and played heavily into the landfall mechanic and now I have a deck that has several really viable mana engines and things quickly get overwhelming. Even more now that I’ve added Koma. Serpents aren’t that bad if you want to spend time on working em out. A lot of the serpents you mentioned were ass but it helps to pare them with krakens and leviathans.

I play Koma as my primary deck, and the strategy I've found through playing is: 1) play a bunch of mana dorks/rocks to try and get Koma out by turn 4 or 5 (on very rare occasions I can get it out turn 3) 2) get Adrix & Nev, Twincasters out as soon as possible (by tutor usually; pattern of rebirth, green sun's zenith, etc.) 3) use doublers, like Spark Double, Irenicus' Vile Duplication, Quantum Misalignment, Mockingbird, Quasiduplicate, etc., to copy Adrix & Nev (not Koma). Remember - making a token copy of Adrix & Nev actually makes 2 token copies. Then if you copy one of those copies, it makes even more. It increases your Coils exponentially, not linearly. I have found myself making dozens of Coils per round that way.

Glad you made this tech, because I pulled a Koma and jammed it in a Gretchen Tichwillow deck I just threw together.

KOMA is in my Kinnen deck. He’s completely took over. Especially when I brought out spark dub

Really enjoyed this deck. A friend and I both picked up the Blue/ green strixhaven commander deck. Since i really dont like playing the same commander as others in my playgroup it was a pretty solid starting point for Koma which I ust ordered yesterday.

Ohran Frostfang does work in this deck. I put in Verity Circle for card draw when you tap creatures. Also, steely resolve won’t let you sac your tokens since it gives them shroud
@Illianor1233 жыл бұрын
I know this is late, but the ability doesn’t target the serpent so shroud doesn’t stop it.

Mana expensive commanders definitely bring to mind Plan B's and set-up plans. I would end up recycling protective spells with creatures like Eternal Witness, Archaeomancer, Scholar of the Ages, and Shipwreck Dowser.

May I suggest a favorite enchantment of mine, Dismiss into dream? Instead of tapping opponents creatures, komas ability then makes them sacrifice them. Gets around indestructible too

Thank you for the suggestion ill be adding that card to my deck.

Frontier Siege is another great ramp spell that could do a lot of work here. Getting 4 extra a mana a turn is nuts but I hardly ever hear people talk about it

Floodtide is good for enchantments/enchantment creatures with etbs and shifting enchants/getting consistent enchantments for enchantress decks, also constellation triggers. Basically, I think the attack trigger is supposed to be a bonus. Not in deep-sea tribal though.

So I truly think I have one of the best koma decks set up right not thats not crazy or too high cost with good ramp token gain an defense. I'll make a deck list or a random vid soon with it I'd love to hear your feedback!

Have you looked at Sphinx of the Second Sun for Koma? Or would that be too expensive? It could maybe be brought out with PoR....

I went with a handful of changelings so they count towards serpents, I also put in maskwood nexus to turn everything into changelings, I need xenograft and I need to find my arcane adaptation...

so if you’re adding in terrible serpents just to protect your commander from removal, why not just carry counterspells instead?

i have some constructive criticism for this one demo, as much as i hate to be that guy. ik serpent tribal is a cool idea, but honestly with the amount koma makes, it really isn't worth putting in the shitty ones, or even the half decent ones. just replace them and the kinda alright changelings for better cards. token overrun is probably the best build you can go with for koma, so doublers, overrun effects, etc. will all be a lot better. the only "three" serpents i'm gonna run in the deck i'm building (aside from koma, obviously) are junk winder (HEAVY token synergy, and great value with all the tokens koma makes), serpent of yawning depths (the unblockable boi, if i end up having a surplus of serpent tokens/to get koma thru for damage), and masked vandal (changeling, but still counts, good cheap removal creature. also why i put "three" in quotes lol) the bad ones with all the "sacrifice an island" kind of effects would be better in a landfall deck, because you'll likely be running crucible of worlds-type-effects in it, so you can just get them back anyways, and hit aaaaall them landfall triggers but yeah that's my two cents. ik you try to be a bit different with a lot of your deck techs, and you do have some really cool ones that are secretly pretty powerful, but this isn't the case for koma. you really have to lean into the "simic value engine" type of build with it to get anywhere. underpowering the deck will just have it kinda flop a lot of the time, even though koma itself is really powerful on its own. tl;dr: simic token overrun >>> serpent tribal (specifically, not sea monster tribal (the whole krakens, leviathans, etc. package))

I am not a patron, so I don't know what exactly happened but my guess would be that this channel got hacked the same way as another youtuber's channel called Nathaniel Bandy. Type in that username plus "hacked" and you will see an 8 minutes long video, where everything is explained about his channel being hacked. I do hope this channel can be restored as this has been the most unique MTG channel I have found.
@ominousowl16633 жыл бұрын
Also I think your thinking to much about serpent's serpent's not enough about shapeshifters. And also maybe lithoform engine. Also the nexus card I believe it's called makes all creatures you control all creature types. So with green you can throw in some low cost deathtouch or ruin crab. Also the new frost shapeshifter card that becomes a copy with 2 counters if it becomes a creatures. I think this deck is going with too much of the older set and not the newest one which is why this deck seens so underwhelming and just complicated

koma might be the best example of how pushed simic is at this point. since when is indestructible and free sacrifice (without even tapping or anything) part of simics color pie? tokens sure, cant be countered isnt necessary but sure, but also protecting itself for free and allowing you to tap down your opponents permanents (including lands) is just ridiculous. its just way too much for one card, its not like 7 mana is even that much in simic you can "get there" on like turn 4 fairly often. i think someone at wizards just loves simic so they keep getting way too many abilities, and abilities that arent even part of their colors to boot.

Make all your creatures all creature types and if you have mana dorks like you should then you don't need redundant serpents.

For many of the serpents included in this deck, they could be swapped out with value creatures with changeling. Just a little thing I found when brewing this commander for myself!
