Kombi Ute Restoration

In part 1 of the 1975 Volkswagen Kombi Ute/Pickup I will go through the job from start to finish, beginning with an overview of the work then some filler repairs, Primer Work, Rust Repairs, How to Polish Chrome and then a look over the car where we are up to. Ha gunny you make it look so quick and easy. I used to ONLY restore Mid 70's Kombis and we used to charge in 100 hour blocks of time...with some jobs running 500 hrs...but awesome fun and results at the end of the day...thanks mate a trip down memory lane....

Excellent job Gunman. Thank you for the name of materials used on prep and mask written on the video. Me and my mate here in Brazil talks a lot about your work and we apply the techniques that you teach in his workshop. My english isn't so good and my friend don't understand a word, but we understand every single move of your job and we learn a lot just watching. Now with the writing on video, become much more easier for us to know about the sandpapers, primers, nozzle sizes, etc.

i bought some awesome polishing juice . bought it at the shop carpark lol . works bloody awesome shines up your paint and does an unbelievable job polishing chrome . it also leaves a protection wax coating that you cant see so when mud/ dirt get on the panel you can just blow and it will fall off . best stuff

Im also doing a restoration on a Fiat Strada Ute, also had to do rust repair and minor body damage, I've never worked my arse off so bad in my life and it seems to never end, still got two doors and bumpers to do aswell as mirrors, fuel flap and door handles. I won't be taking on a full respray for a very long time as u need major motivation for this work, i honestly don't know where u get the energy to do this type of work day to day! Its back braking stuff. I would do it if i had bought the car and was going to be selling it for decent profit, but jobs like this hold up your workshop and take up space and time which could be spent on the quick cash repair jobs.

To speed up bog removal try a dreadnought file on the bog just before it it real hard ,it straightens it up nicely and saves on paper

Hi excllent wok. just a quick question what is HVLP 741 SEALEY spray gun any good. I've painted with it and get a lot off orange peel. and it use a lot off preasue waste a lot of paint what gun would u recommed for spaying for a quality finish.
