Lost power around 5:00 PM. Came back on around 8:00PM. So thankful of our electrical workers. But the roads are a mess. Pretty scary driving home dodging tree limbs and garbage cans. I'm just south of Tacoma. My yard looks like a forest floor, branches everywhere. I pray for those that had it worse than most.

@@pabrodi Florida is a combination of factors. Climate change is one factor and will become an even bigger issue in the future, but a lot of it is that so much of the state is both disaster prone (even absent climate change) and overbuilt. Insurance companies simply aren't interested in taking so much "all at once" risk if a major hurricane comes through.

Went through a typhoon in Guam behind steel shutters, power out, candles, wooowoooo 100mph roar, rain like shotgun pellets. A giant breadfruit tree went down tremendous thud. But Guam builds with cinder block and concrete roofs, big nothing burger. Chainsaws clear the streets, power came back at noon and stores open again. Why do we allow trailers?

@@paradox11111111 the one thing we don’t have is the storm surge which I would say is the worst thing about hurricanes from an outside perspective, but the winds? Pretty much a hurricane but it is not a tropical storm. It is caused by low pressure and a high pressure rushing in to fill it in colder areas.
