For Live 10 and the MK2 I also had to copy the _NativeInstruments folder next to the Komplete_Kontrol_Mk2 into the Live MIDI Remote Scripts of the Live App and delete the Komplete49 folder. Only then I could select the mk2 as midi controller.

Hi, I have just purchased the s61 Mk2 and used the included Live 10 Lite which came with the keyboard and run it on Mac. This is a great tutorial however one step was missing from this video to get it to work for me. Live - Preferences - File Folder - Use VST Plu-in System Folders (on). This simple step on top of this tutorial fixed it all for me. I hope it helps someone out there!

You need to go to Options/preferences/File Folder and check if you have "Use VST Plug-in Custom Folder" ON or Off. I had it ON and i had it somehwere on my D drive and there I collect all ".dll" files . Ableton then takes them from there. What solved my problem was that I found .dll file from Komplete Kontrol and copied it to that custom folder. Then use Rescan button or restart Ableton

You need to go to Options/preferences/Plug-ins" ... then under "Plug-in Sources" check if you have "Use VST Plug-in Custom Folder" ON. If the option is "ON" then in the "VST Plug-in custom folder" directory you must have 2 files : Komplete Kontrol VST.adg and Komplete Kontrol.dll. You'll find the "Komplete Kontrol.dll" in the directory "Program Files>Native Instruments>VSTPlugins 64 bit" (or VSTPlugins 32 bit .. if you're running a 32 bit machine) . Do not remove the original "Komplete Kontrol.dll" .. just copy and past it to your VST Plug-in Custom Folder directory... that worked for me ... cheers !!!!

If the komplete kontrol vst is not showing up, go in ableton preferences -> plug ins and make sure you have switched on "use VST2 plug-in custom folders" and "use vst system folder" and then selected the path for vst after clicking on the "browse" button, this worked for me.

Also now Native Instruments have released their own Komplete Control VST Plugin you still have to use these instrument racks to get functionality in Ableton LIVE and your Komplete Controller

I have a dumb question, and I’m having trouble finding a straight answer. I just got the MK2, and I have Ableton 10. I’m able to use it fully and work with it; however, I can’t really assign MIDI controls to my fader knobs outside of the default ones loaded in each instrument. For instance, I want to set it up so I can pan an auto filter or something, but I can’t get it to work. The standard click midi, then click the parameter I want to modulate, then move the knob I want to assign it to...that doesn’t seem to work

Great video, if you are working with both external synths to audio tracks though and you want to split out each komplete kontrol instrument strip to a separate audio channel for arrangement view so that you can pass all audio stems as separate audio recordings to another ableton sound engineer. Ive been able to do it using instrument rack with kontakt, cant see an option in komplete

Hey! I've just resolved this problem. Like he says in the video that all older versions needs to be deleted so the integration works, there is a folder named "KONTROL49". Delete it and it should work like a charm :)

I had the same problem launching the VST from ableton live 10 lite (did what was told on the video and a couple of other ones) and even after dragging the Komplete Kontrol VST from the instrument rack, a blank instrument popped up. Managed to figure it out thanks to a bunch of videos and reading through forums. Just got the m32 and took a couple hours to finally get it running on Windows 10. What i needed to do was find where Native Instruments put Komplete Kontrol's VST. I installed mine in a different location than the default. Go to Options > Preferences and on the File Folder Tab, Turn on "Use VST Plug-In Custom Folder" and browse for where Komplete Kontrol put your VSTs. If you don't know where it is, open Native access (go to the account button on the top right> preferences scroll down to where windows installed your VST 32 and VST 64 folders. Mines was put in a folder called NI Music, separate from the Native Instruments file altogether.) Go back to ableton to browse to the NI Music folder and the Komplete Kontrol interface should pop up. Good Luck all :)

Followed the steps, step by step and once I try to open in ableton, komplete kontrol doesn't pop up or anything. Been trying to get this to work for about 3 hours now :/ I get all the way to the point to where I go to click on the "Komplete Kontrol VST.ADG" in Ableton & it doesn't pop up Komplete Control at all..? I unsure what I'm doing wrong. I re-done these steps to this video multiple times now.

I had the same issue, to fix this -> plugin -> turn on "use custom VST2 directory" and select as directory Native Instrument VSTPlugins 64 bit. Ableton will load your KK plugins without even cliquin the Exam bouton.

Hi! Thanks for the video. :-) I have bought the Komplete Kontrol S61 and use it for Ableton Live 10 on my Mac. However, I can’t use it as control surface for Live and midi controller for Komplete at the same time. When it is set for the S61 as Control Surface, the plugins won’t load on the LCD screen. The Komplete Kontrol app opens on the screen, but as soon as a preset is loaded, it jumps to the standard “MIDI”-screen, and I can’t access the instrument through the keyboard. The keyboard works fine with KK in standalone mode, or when the Control Surface is set to none. Anybody know how to solve this?

I found that my Mk2 midi remote script folder doesnt have all the files that suppose to be. Under the folder I have only 2 files, "init" and "komplete kontrol" both py extension, but if you see in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mn2thYawmdWHpMU, there is 13 files, not only 2, so I think the solutions is looking for the right script. Also, i think the software that install those scripts maybe the controller editor, but I remember i had some issues on installing using native access, and in a second try got installed, but now if I try to reinstall I got a xml error. So, for some reason the folder didnt install correctly. Look if you have the same 2 files in the folder.

Solved guys, here is the solutions. As I found in www.native-instruments.com/forum/threads/komplete-kontrol-mk2-not-in-controller-list.326963/ there is a new structure with the midi remote script files, and this doesnt appear in any native o third party tutorial. I just copied the _NativeInstrument folder (under host integration) to /App-Resources/Midi Remote Scripts and thats it.

In Live 10 i had to have LIVE open for the host integration folder to show up in the Library.It was then as the video instructs easy to copy the needed files to the correct places.Thanks for the video.I doubled checked this.Without LIVE open the Host Integration Folder seems to be hidden.Just thought i would pass this solution on :-)

You also need to copy the Native_Instruments folder in addition to the MK2 folder. Windows & Ableton needs both folders in order to show up in the list of MIDI controllers

Figured it out, for those having this issue as well. You need to go to your file/folder section in preferences and set your "use plug-in vst custom folder" it defaults to C:Program Files\Native Instruments\VST Plugins 64-bit. It'll load the path into your ableton, rescan, and when you open the vst it should properly load in your ableton.

Hi, Do you know if the keyboard screen is run by a chip inside the keyboard or does it rely on the computer? I have Push2 and it takes up significant resourses on my old computer to run the Push2 screen. I'm wondering if S-series MkII would have the same issues. Thanks

Same thing. Id it runs bad with a push it will for any screened controller. It cant run the screens stand alone and uses your PC for the grunt work

You may not have installed the Previews from Native Access or you may have preview turned off which you can do.Open Native Access and check installed or not installed products to see if you have Previews installed.

I just got the Komplete Kontrol S49 but can't seem to get any control of Ableton with it. I've already done everything you've showed in the video and still it won't work, none of the mute, solo, loop, metro, tempo, play, rec, stop, undo, quantize, or mixer buttons light up. Any ideas?
