On another note: I also come from road biking background, but I got too lazy to keep riding on my CX bicycle that I turned into a gravel bike. That's why I'm looking at Kona Sutra as my next bike. How did you match the size of the bike to your height? What size is the bike, how tall are you? How does that compare to road bicycles you ride? Those new-age gravel touring bikes have larger reaches (long top tubes) with shorter stems but that is unlike most road bikes. How did you calculate your changes and how does the bike fit you during long long rides?

This 2022 has a big disadvantage vs. the blue 2022 sutra: A 68mm bottom bracket vs. 73mm. Much less tire clearance. Many people dont see this hidden in the nerdy spec List.

@@pauliui78 yes, but the older models with 73mm BB fit 2.3 inch MTB Tires with official legal clearance for mud 6mm each side to the rear chainstays. Big Difference. Hello friend, I am 172cm height (think that is 5 foot 7) and not sure I'd 52 or 50 is my correct size. Just rode the 50 today, which actually felt fine, but I still had the feeling of riding a somewhat small bike, although the reason for that could be, that my previous bikes (54) were too large. I ordered the 52 and can compare them in a week. There is no big difference in reach, but nearly 2cm top tube. The bigger frame could not be made smaller due to the short stem already used. With the 50 I had the feeling my feet were somewhat close to the front tire. Have you got any advice? Would be much appreciated.
@diogolopescycling Жыл бұрын
Personally i would ride the 50 and a longer stem, because I like shorter frames. I guess the best way is to try both if you can and see how it goes.

@@Enlil-mj3wc i am the nearly the same height as you - 173 cm.. which size did u end up with in the end, and how do you find it? If I use a calculator it says I must use size 52 also. Cheers
@Enlil-mj3wc Жыл бұрын
@@TheScatman89Hi, I first tested size 50. The guy in the store said the size was good. However, I was not sure and ordered the 52, on which I felt more comfortable as the position I'm in on the 52 is more upright/comfortable especially when riding in the drops. I like this size and riding is super comfortable (the 50 would have resulted in more of a racing position, which I was not aiming for on this bike). I don't have much clearance to the crotch area, but the reach is definitely not too large, I could even get a longer stem and still be comfortable due to the short stem the bike comes with. So all in all I'm comfortable and happy with 52. If you can, try both :)
