Another archetype that should have been added is the bounzer. Konami released this archetype in one set during zexal era, then never printed any support or any reprints for bounzer.

Another archetype I wish they gave more support is iron chains. They wouldn't be good now cause all of their cards are outdated but I thought they could be a really cool archetype when they released at the time when the game was slower. It seems like konami likes to not finish a lot of archetypes.

they screwed the pooch on Iron Chains. they made the tuner the wrong level instead of the level it was in the show, so they can't even natively make Iron Chain Dragon.

in all fairness too trudge almost deserves it, being a character anyone whos watched the 5ds anime will recognise even if they stopped watching almost immediately. its a cool idea for a deck too, thematically, but its so annoying that any random side character from DM who was on screen for 5 minutes will consistently get new cards every now and then for that sweet sweet nostalgia pandering yet if you dare be born just a few later where you ended up watching a later season, you just end up seeing no follow up to promising ideas. and worse than that - the iron chain monsters we DID get dont even work properly

@@smonkk8556 Officer Tetsu Trudge/Tetsu Ushio *IS* a random side character from DM who was on screen for 5 minutes. Though Iron Chain isn't really his archetype but instead that one prison warden's. Tetsu's archetypes were (primarily) "Goyo"s and "Stygian"s. I don't mind either getting more support and in fact I support all three archetypes being given a huge buff (especially Stygians, they're only 4 cards and not even considered a proper "archetype" yet).

In my mind, there are some really interesting behind-the-scenes stories about cards like these, full of intrigue, betrayal, and office politics. Like the person behind War Rocks needed one more vote to ensure they'd make it into Blazing Vortex, so they promised the Materiactor person two card spots in exchange for their vote. But then the Materiactor person was caught playing MTG, so the whole office shunned them, and now Materiactors can't get any more support until that all gets resolved. It's probably not nearly that interesting in reality though.

Gigaboros locks you into Xyz monsters. It's honestly really sad too because I'd love another archetype like Magikeys that can show off a strong side of normal monsters without being defined as "just another halq deck".

That'd be great, but there's so many neglected old archetypes that you'd have to make it a Hidden Arsenal-style series to get them all, since missing some will just make fans of those archetypes disappointed. Then there's the matter of printing support for cards that were only printed once years ago, but given some of those archetypes were only like, four cards I don't think reprinting will be too difficult!

Priminerals remind me of Interplanetarypurplythorny Dragon and Beast. Yes they are linked by their 'archtype' name (should be mentioned that neither are actually true archetypes), but don't mesh at all. They should just be used in different decks and not look for ways to make them a true archtype.

@@MsMiDC So, "archetypes" and "series" are both used to define groups of cards; an archetype requires a keyword in the name of cards from the archetype to be applied by 1 or more support cards, a series is a handful of grouped cards that share a theme or playstyle and no official keyword. For instance, Digital Bugs aren't actually an archetype, they're a series; nothing in or tangentially related to Digital Bugs actually makes the jump from series to archetype; it's all references to "Level 3 LIGHT Insect monsters" and "LIGHT Insect Xyz monsters". In a weirder example, Monarch monsters aren't an archetype, but the Monarch Spell/Trap Cards are. All support for Monarch monsters refers to the statline ("monsters with 2400 ATK and 1000 DEF, or 2800 ATK and 1000 DEF"), but the Monarch Spell/Trap Cards refer to each other by name, through cards like Tenacity, Pantheism, and Prime. Hilariously, all cards with "Guardian" in the name (except a chosen few mistranslated ones, like "Celtic Guardian" and "The Reliable Guardian") are part of the "Guardian" archetype, thanks to the existence of Arsenal Summoner.

The abandoned "archtype" that I really like are the Prime Material cards. They seem to be based around protective effects activated by discard. Any further development of the archtype could emphasize, and maybe provide recursion from the graveyard to hand to keep up the protection. I've theorycrafted cards for this archtype before. Always fun, but I'd like to see more official cards that expand on this archtype!

Prime Material Dragon was more Monarch-like in how it played. Single tribute, 2400 ATK, good effect for the time and a bonus of outing Burn Decks and outright countering them if they weren't using Lava Golem or Volcanic Queen. Prime Material Falcon was kind of a victim of the time it was released since it came out when Stardust Dragon existed, but was also seemingly deliberately designed worse than its Dragon counterpart. An archetype of it could be cool. But their cards cannot be generic as we do not need more generic negation in a game that already has too much of it.

A suship Buffet Battleship. You can Xyz summon this using any Suship Xyz monster (getting all the Xyz material) or 2+ Suships. Then some other effects that's good.

​@@MsMiDC It's not any slower than any other going-second board breaker card. Its real issues are that it targets, it only destroys two cards, monster negates are common these days, it is very telegraphed, and it is not likely to be useful if you topdeck it. It does give you a free level 8 monster to use to make plays though, and there are probably some decks that could make good use of that. It's not a good replacement for Raigeki, but it might be a reasonable replacement for Twin Twisters in some decks.

@@TheLetterJ0 Thing is, the effect will never go off. First it has to live an entire opponents turn, which is never going to happen. Its super telegraphed, and has to be flipped face up, so destroying it by card effect completely dodges the effect, and summoning it on your own turn because of a handtrap doesnt do anything because you cant flip summon it immediatly. Just play Harpie's Feather Duster/Lightning Storm at that point. It's too much hoops to jump through for a Twin Twister like effect.

People might get on me for this because it's only a subarchtype of a fairly well support archetype, but the NEX Neo-Spacians have been totally ignored and really designed in an impossible way to effectively use. They only got 2 NEX forms and 1 of the fusions despite printing all 5 Neo-Spacians on the cards. Unfortunate since these are the only Neos-Neo-Spacian fusions that do not return to the hand at the end of the turn. They need an errata so that they aren't treated as the same card as their base neo-spacian forms and way more support as they could have a lot of potential to make neo-spacians a fun casual archetype without having to just replace all the originals with new neo-spacians with better, modern effects

Year another “archetype” that got abandoned were the Wicked Gods. The idea of evil counterparts to the Egyptian Gods is a cool idea, but since they sort of did that with the Sacred Beasts from GX kind of explains why the Wicked Gods never got anything new (still wish they did though).

With Primineral Kongreat I like the fact that even pack filler has been so influenced by power creep, it is entirely self-sufficient by itself and has an easy summoning condition. It would be a non-archetypical Main Box UR filler in Duel Links, on the furthest right side of the screen.

Sadly this whole thing needs A LOT of research, because you essentialy don't even know what you are searching.

I think Konami is learning how to play the long game here. Look how long it took for support for Egyptian Gods and Dark Magicians took. They can lay the foundation, sit on it and pull the trigger when they are ready - possibly to help combat a tier 0 deck. Particularly with Materiactor, they can give the archetype whatever effect mechanic it wants since what we have is so vague.

My theory for the priminerals: I think their idea was some kind of punish archetype where each one special summons itself when your opponent does something. Kongreat is probably better if you force them to discard, but it punishes self discard too. I picture a highly reactive deck where your opponent would have to try and figure out which pirminerals you've got or risk you special summoning another giant monkey.

I'd love to see more elemental chaos support so that Desert Twister, Frost and Flame Dragon, and Loud Cloud the Storm Dragon are not alone. I guess Fenrir, Mythic Tree Dragon, Mythic Water Dragon, and After the Storm Exist; but those aren't exactly good support.

Gravekeepers have been treated poorly. That's an archetype that has SO MUCH potential. Preventing graveyard effects disturbs so many decks. Given some support these guys could be beast. Some Synchros, links, more ways to get them out. While I guess you can say this about any archetype, I think gravekeepers would be one of the better archetypes in a theoretical "Most Improved" category

I had fun playing gishki zielgigas turbo. Its a 3200 atk tank who has a luck based non targeting, non destruction removal while also letting yo draw a card, making it very powerful. Also as its level 10 you can easily go into all the fun rank 10s like the trains and the spiders. Wouldn't mind seeing some support for the gishkis

Having to pay life points also fuels the rank 10 spider xyz. Going first tho all I could really do is Dragun or just set 1 and pass

Materiactor heart of the underdog deck. Build a deck with only level 3 normal monsters except gigarda and the spell card heart of the underdog. Use giggarda's effect to special summon a level 3 monster and xyz summon gigaboros then draw as much as possible using heart of the underdog then hit for otk. Just came up with it right now. It's jank. But it's my jank.

I was really enamored by the concept of Priminerals, in both playstyle and aesthetics. The way both Mandstrong and Kongreat were summoned are basically like how they're hidden in the rocks and interacting with them reveals their true form. I was hoping they were gonna be the advent of the modern Flip deck, but I guess not. I'm still holding out hope for them though, and I really hope that they can print more support for the DK Crew.

Can you make a video on archetypes that have the least showing in tournaments but can still be fun In 2022 :) I def wanna make more fun decks in the future even though I never have time for tournaments. Even if the deck is awful, def wanna see if I can make creative ways for them. I def like the cards you showcased today 🔥

I remember when kongreat was revealed. Same set as Gallant Granite so people were actually kinda hype for it thinking there was gonna be more support to let it function as some sort of "anti-handtrap" as part of a new rock deck.

In the last set we got a one of in the form of "geminize". I can't remember it's full name but this is a great start to possibly building Gemini's back up. The problem is is that we only have one official card and I even try to using Google translate to search anything that might be similar to it in Japanese and I think they're legit is only one card of this possible archetype. We really do need more of this card because it gives a promising new idea to Gemini's and could potentially be a fun deck.

Both of the archetypes were ones I was hoping to sink my teeth into. I like it when an archetype is unplayable at first release and gets fleshed out later. I was on the edge of my seat with every Deskbot reveal, as they only got a max of 2 cards per set. Suship was another one I really like because of how slowly they release the support. I don't want Suship to be good, I want Suship to be the best it can be as a pure concept. Primineral and Materiactor turned out like Malicevorous though. No support, and there will never be support.

Yeah all it really needs is a fire king island type card that is meant to work with it. Something that would be cool is give it a foolish burial but instead of sending to the graveyard it destroys from the deck triggering yubel

the Priminerals feel more like MTG cards with a yugioh spin than regular yugioh cards. That is to say, they're meant to be draft support more than an archetype but because YGO is so archetype heavy they had to tie the two together as opposed to just giving them synergistic effects. Probably also why they don't synergise; in a constructed format its meh but in Draft it was probably busted

The dragons look amazing and I only wish they made more of those. Would definitely use them as I am a really big fan of XYZs. I really don't watch the show (zexle) but I love the xyzs mechanics, I only read the original yugioh (dule monsters) manga's and RC one's to.

I think materiactor where meant to get more in the set they dropped in and i subsequent sets but space is tight in sets so maybe theyre waiting for a new set to bring them over. I hope so its the only deck im interested in seeing come to fruition

Fire Kings kind of do that already, it's not "destroy by battle" but they specifically say they "destroy" cards from your own hand which triggers the "when this card is destroyed" effects the Fire Kings you yeet to the Graveyard for the effect have

Honestly I love to see more venom cards for venom swamp and the snakes, I really enjoy those cards when they first came out and try to make a deck around it. Still waiting for more someday.

Naturia has pretty much the Ice Barrier Syndrome (pre Structure Deck): Having incredibly broken boss monsters but no consistant way to actually summon them.

There are some more. Guardians. Celtic Earth Fairy ( that one is funny af ) They forget the whole Structure Deck R Series. There was a time we got every 6 months one Strucuture deck R, now we got maybe 1 in 12 months. And in the TCG we got them every 2 years.

A very old and interesting one is Gather Your Mind. It adds any "Gather Your Mind" card but it is the only "Gather Your Mind" card. This makes it the smallest archetype in the game and leaves the question as to why it didn't just say to add another copy of itself or even specify that it had to be a Spell.

Lv 2 Geminis, Lvs 6, 7 and 8 synchros for Crystrons also spells for them, maybe at least one more trap, Cloudian contact fusion monster/s and/or links, Ancient Gear main deck more little monsters, Yubel so much cards missing, T.G. lv 3, 4, 6, 7, 8 and 9 synchros and decent removal in that archetype, Deskbots also lack more removal options...................................I could go on and on...................

Performage = 1 wave of support and plushfire getting sent to the Banlist realm to basically ROT. While Anime only cards that can't be Changed or buffed to Better support performage strategy goes dark staying Unprinted. The Prophecy have been sidelined for that dipshit Aleister The Invoker for far too long, I don't care if Konami thinks they're cute or clever for making stupid little Aleister Crowley references with the Magistus or the Invoked or whatever stupid storyline they have in place afterward and I care even less that Aleister The Invoker is a more competitively viable option than High Priestess is, because all it takes is a flip of the switch from Konami to say "ok let's make this deck tier one", it could be one card, it could three or five or whatever, but the point is Prophecy need support more, I'd love for nothing more than a return to the XYZ mechanic that was supposed to stem from the deck, that itself is an abandoned theme, even these days Prophecy make much better Link fodder than they XYZ materials... I want the prophecy back, the deck that stepped up and prevented the Dragon Rulers from dominating 2012, I wanna see what The Fool/Reaper/World of Prophecy and of course High Priestess have been upto since they sent Endymion home packing after his little invasion failed. I see a metric ton of fan art for waifus in the game who haven't even done 1/3 of what High Priestess done for the game much less for Spellcaster decks in general in a time when Konami didn't make competitive spellcaster decks at all.. yet she only has a 1/9 of the art Verre has.. Sorry but Konami have ignored Prophecy for far too long and we're closing in the 10th anniversary of The Prophecy's debut in Return of The Duelist, and seeing the lack of legacy support for Prophecy/madolche/dragon rulers is rather upsetting..
