It was dusting on the shelve of the store when I gave it a try, based on the great cover, Konami's logo and advice from the owner that, despite not being as popular as other famous games, it was a really good one. I was absolutely shocked with it's quality when I first played it. Graphics, gameplay, music, everything was so well made that you quickly were dragged into the game and invested in that heroic possum mission. Sprayed the word among my friends, they just mocked me (yeah, a possum, right) and went to rent some sports game that was played thousand times before. It didn't bother me, tho, cause is a good feeling knowing that you are right and everybody else around isn't.

It should be noted that even though Hyperstone Heist used recycled assets, it did have one new asset - the version exclusive boss Tatsu, who was Shredder's right hand man in the first 2 TMNT live action movies of the early 90's.

HUGE fan of the Animaniacs game on Genesis, it does a great job making each character distinct, the graphics are solid and the music is super catchy. Konami in general killed it on the Genesis, some underwhelming games notwithstanding. Thanks for the overview!

Some absolute classics up in here. For me, Rocket Knight is not only one of the best Konami games on the Megadrive, but also one of the best 16bit games in every way. I also loved the Tiny Toon games, great frun. Great video as always.

What do you mean??
@supersexysega4 жыл бұрын
@@Theshark15z He means Konami released some AAA exclusive software that was developed in house for the Genesis. When it wasn't AAA it was still done in house and usually of good quality. Capcom on the other hand didn't do one in house exclusive for the Genesis. While there were some good games released by Capcom they were ports of the SNES assets and didn't really take full advantage of Genesis hardware.

I remember Lethal Enforcers. Had forgotten about it until this video :O used to play that game a lot. Never actually thought that game looked bad. But back then, i wouldn't have known much about graphics anyway. Sunset riders, Tiny Toon Adventures game, TMNT Hyperstone Heist were the games, me and my brother played almost everyday. Especially Sunset Riders and TMNT we beat who knows how many times. Was so sad when some kid stole our TMNT from cartridge case. One of my fondest memory i have of my childhood was reaching the final stage of Tiny Toon Adventures game and writing down the level code on piece of paper. I believe it was weekend and my dad was watching me play the game while mom cooked. I must have been 7,8 at the time. Was so proud to have reached the final stage but sadly lost that level code and never gotten around to beating the game.

Several developers who previously worked on Amiga titles who were proficient with 68000 code made great Genesis titles. Personally, if prefer Genesis over Super Nintendo. I also wish the Sega CD was properly utilized, due to tons of hardware improvements.

I'll never forgive Konami for what they did to the Silent Hill franchise. Looking back at these amazing games (Rocket Knight, Zombies, Contra etc), it boggles my mind how badly the quality of their releases dropped over the years. Farming their franchises out to shit, cheapo developers just to try and squeeze a few bucks out of the fan base. A sorry state of affairs.

I had Lethal Enforcers for the Sega CD, and back then I don't remember it looking ugly at all. Yes, it's dithered, but ugly? On a modern LCD or via emulation it looks bad, but CRTs really smoothed out a lot of those pixels and the colors popped more. I have my Genesis still, and got a PVM and just an old random TV, I'm going to have to look at it on both and see if it's closer to my memory or not.

I had the Lethal Enforcers cowboy sequel with the Justifier. My memories of that game are of extreme frustration and horrible graphics, but it was somehow addicting. I remember playing it a lot when I caught pneumonia and so I had the worst fever dreams over trying to beat it, failing, and trying again with its vomit inducing graphics. The console was too far away to turn off, so it just sat on an opening screen loop for hours until I'd pick it up play it again, and the music haunted my dreams. Eventually I got lucky and beat it as I was feeling better.
@ricky-sanchez4 жыл бұрын
I hated that game. The graphic were terrible and the music sucked. And it was really hard. When I got to the part where you had to gun down like five people in a row, that's when the game was over. I only beat that part once. And died on the next level.☹️

Just a thought but I would have started the video off by talking about how Konami was one of many Nintendo loyalists who wouldn't even look at the Genesis, but the success of Sonic the Hedgehog, which allowed Sega to finally (temporarily) take the video game throne from Nintendo, convinced them to join the ranks of Acclaim, Tecmo and Tradewest in publishing their games for the Genesis in 1992, finally giving Sega gamers the chance to enjoy the licenses that their Nintendo brethern were blessed with for so long.
