Konami Has PURPOSELY FORGOTTEN About Pendulum

There’s definitely a TCG/OCG divide where pendulum is still the black sheep in the OCG, but they will still acknowledge it enough to print good Arc-V legacy support every few sets. We’ve gotten a lot of strong pends recently for stuff like Melodious, Superheavy Sams, Predaplants and Speedroids. TCG only wants to sell DM, so they will not do anything more than the bare minimum for later series. Arc-V was unpopular, took years to be dubbed and features an unpopular mechanic, so it’s very easy for them to write it off.

Dude I’ve seen so much love from the TCG side for 5ds support (probably in no small part from Edison format being so popular). Everyone loved Yubel being in top tier too. The TCG does like other series. They just also don’t like Arc-V.

Rarity Collection 2 and Bonanza feel like confused products. 1 was a massive hit because we got a lot of overpriced staples at not only accessible price points, but the opportunity to get them in shiny rarities. 2 was more focused on "nostalgia" cards. Which is entirely fine, but they jacked up the price and offered less of what people loved about the first. Bonanza feels like they made the concession that they couldn't call the set Rarity "Collection" then not include every card in every rarity. Realizing people still wanted the overpriced staples, of which also had QCRs. Then added in a massive subset with a nostalgia pool to retain card value on the rarities of cards that don't necessarily need reprints for accessibility. But. It still isn't focused. There's an idea of what people want with the main pool with Diabell, Bonfire, Thrust, SP etc. The nostalgia pool is just not focused. It's mostly 5Ds era stuff, but then there are just random outliers. A personal gripe: printing Dragonmaids to go alongside the House alt art makes sense, but Laundry and Lorpar? Either include all the maids or all the dragons. They have all the Dragon Lords in the main pool with the babies in the nostalgia set. Why couldn't they have done that with the Dragonmaids? It's just another facet that comes across as though they don't even know what they want the product to have. Cramming any and all obligations into it haphazardly. Then filling the rest of the slots with tangentially related cards. Pendulums that could have been printed from Rarity 1 to Bonanza include: Skullcrobat Joker, Double Iris Magician, Zarc, Odd Eyes Phantom Dragon (Manga Ace), Odd Eyes Arc Pendulum (Has 1 printing. 2 technically since they reprinted the set it was in again. For some reason.), Master Pendulum, Astrograph, Chronograph, Darkwurm, Endymion, Kirin, Pend Sorc, Monkeyboard, Harmonizing, Odd Eyes Synchron, Odd Eyes Raging, Odd Eyes Rebellion. The fact almost all of the pend cards that are worth reprinting pertain to Yuya, only really serves to highlight how little they've actually done with the mechanic over the years. So they'd rather just sweep it under the rug. "How can you be nostalgic for something we never bothered with?"

You are 100% correct, I get so many people telling that cards like the dragonmaids are there for the dragonmaids support but like no one is even using laundry in existing dragonmaids decks why is it in there? I feel like Konami is once again reprinting garbage cards with a sprinkle of meta wanted cards so people wanna open the set

I think it's pretty blatant. Especially when they make non-Pendulum Pend deck. Nemluria is FAR from pendulum soup but is just full of the "flavorful deck we don't want to be meta so here's a bunch of jank, anti synergy and unnecessary restrictions. The biggest offender is Vaalmonica by a country mile, lets go down the list in painful and excruciating detail. - The Deck is designed to support lv4 and be both scales making it terrible for pend soup (this is good) - The Pend scales only get their "on LP Gain/LP damage gain a counter. and why are the effects so irrelevant? Oh yes -100 per counter that'll show em, and they better not attack when I have 3 counters >:) For this, I'd have them gain counters no matter if the other Vaalmonica name is in scale. Angello can Quick Effect link summon on either turn, and gives +200 per counter. Dimonno is -300 per counter, and let's you set a Vaalmonica card from your GY, Banishment or deck to field. ~ Why does the field spell steal when the 3rd counter is placed in a scale? Why not make it a Quick effect steal during the opponents turn IF a scale has 3 counters. Selettrice so strong but so disappointing... Why doesn't she trigger off any special summon? they gave Vaalmonica an E-tele with a brutal restriction and it can't even summon your bester minster and if you don't control a vaal sclae to use the second effect you're in a really bad spot. There's issues with the links, how none of the spells go +1 they're all card neutral and why are the Vaalmonica effects to copy a spell/trap is a hard once only on the turn they're summoned... Pick one or the other both is too harsh, why not give Vaalmonica an effect lets you activate the gain and damage taking effects in sequence? I could keep going but every single Vaalmonica card has the tiny little flaws and they all add up the make the deck mediocre even as an engine

100% right. Like even in the mega tins, a super diluted set and many things not actually needing a reprint. You already know the issues with that tin. Then, to leave out prominent cards that needed reprint. Some things like Revival of the Dragon Lords that's great, a $6 common. But completely skip over Magical Android or Dust shoot (I do own them but not multiples), it's just crazy. It really feels like Konami has a doofus or corporate suck up at the meetings that intentionally messes up sets just to make it harder and force you to buy more product. TWO dark magician fusions?? Kunai with chain? What the hell is that Konami, like come on now Some cards are very nostalgic and awesome to see. DESERVING QCR or high rarity. Others are wasting a slot.

I never expected Electrumite but for a set celebrating 25 years and putting spotlight on decks that were meta-defining, it's despicable to see the complete absence of Pendulums. At the very least, cards which defined the meta and were even on the banlist, such as Monkeyboard, Kirin, Joker ABSOLUTELY deserved their QCR.

Pendulum did nothing wrong. It's the only summoning mechanic (besides fusion and ritual) that didn't see play on release. In fact, if you ignore Qliphort (a stun deck that just happens to use pendulum cards) and instead look for decks that actually are focused on pendulum summoning, you'll find that pendulum took a whole year to see any play. I honestly think people complain too much about the pendulum mechanic (with that said:I still hate pendulum soup decks. Combo pile decks are the worst)

It genuinely makes no sense to use the idea of "this mechanic was used in a tier 0 deck once, therefore it's toxic" as an argument.

I cannot claim to have counted, but I wonder if there's any extra deck type that has more cards than there are pendulum monsters. Like if there's more xyz or synchros than pends out there. Which would be utterly insane, considering pends are main deck cards (extra deck ones exist but there's not many). Edit: Well now I went and counted, and there's 50% more xyz monsters than there are pendulum monsters (extra deck ones included). Shame, that.

I mean, whats the purpose of more pendulum support if igknights do literally everything in the game. They can ftk, otk, make 9 billion negates, floodgate your opponent from doing anything, and nuke houses. Im not sure what else we really need. But for real though, im not sure why they are putting sky striker cards without the links in it. Maybe its because people just want to edge to raye or some BS.

konami ignoring pendulums because the people who make these products and the majority of yugioh players cant comprehend a card being spell and a monster card at the same time and think its confusing (as if we dont have it in modern day meta snake eyes and centur ion) think too many text is complicated when thats in every card they print , cant name how many times i had to read a card many times because there is always an effect I or my opponet miss(not saying its bad though)

For me the answer seems kinda obvious; they are going to release another Rarity Collection with another "Nostalgia Pool" with the missing cards that they purposely missed for formats like goat with cards like you mentioned Delinquent Duo, Trap Dustshot, also Metamorphosis; and for Edison, cards like Magical Android, Retiari and Royal Oppression; also adding newer cards like XYZ, links, and maybe even pendulums. As you say the pool has questionable cards, who the fucks uses or wants Return of the Dragon Lords? I was really excited and wanted to buy a box or maybe even two of this Rarity Collection, but seeing all the pools I will buy singles the pool that interested me more is the nostalgia pool, but with a set of 200, the odds of me pulling even one of the cards that I want (don't even hope for multiples) it's super low the math doesn't math for me...
