Guitar Hero's thing isn't "hard". Guitar Hero's thing is "RAWK RAWK RAWK ANGRY RAWK UP TO 11 OWWWWW RAWK ARRRRRRGH". Rock Band doesn't even go that far, happily embracing everything from country to alternative. No American company with a lick of sense would go overboard with difficulty. The idea is to get people playing the dang thing, no small feat given the usual track record of music games. Konami has no image hang-ups, and Guitar Freaks and Drummania are two franchises that have been around for a long time, so of course, the top level is going to be up there. Same thing that happened to Dance Dance Revolution.

+Fuufy No No In cali theres quite a few Round 1 Arcades that among the normal arcade machines they host a large selection of Japanese import rhythm games including most of the bemani games. I believe they are also starting to open up locations in other states. I go all the time, its pretty awesome and you see a lot of good players.
