This is New York City’s anthem. I can smell the rain, the subway stations, the steam coming out from the streets, the garbage, all the perfumes and colognes from different people, and the pizza. I can hear the sirens, the different languages all around me, the accent, the noises while people are walking, I can see the neon lights, the ads, the never ending buildings, the fire escape ladders, the fog…

Still can't believe that Taxi Driver didn't win the Oscar for Best Original Score. Not that The Omen didn't have good music too, but wasn't as deep as Mr. Hermann's work.

That said, the late Bernard Herrmann, who had won his Oscar 35 years earlier for _The Devil & Daniel Webster,_ probably split votes between his _Taxi Driver_ and _Obsession_ scores, not to mention that _The Omen_ ended up being Jerry Goldsmith's only Oscar.

The Danish National Symphony Orchestra = tax money spent well.
I saw this movie when I was 17 in a dingy little movie theatre just off Picadilly Square in London in 1979. For a country boy, it was an eye-opener, but then so was London! Forty-two years later, this music brought back a LOT of memories! Thank you!

The saxofon is predominant and the drums subtle. You can practically experience the hypnotic and provocative essence of the city of New York through the eyes of Travis Bickle.
I watched this orchestra live in Malmo, Sweden and when this song came on I almost became teary eyed.. one of my favorite compositions and I got to see it live.

Boy, I'd forgotten about the "Henry Mancini" jazz saxophone and big-band part that starts just after the 1 minute mark. I remember when I saw the movie thinking about the contrast between that, and the garbage, traffic, street hustlers, hookers and all the rest of it that made up the world where the movie characters spent most of their time. Brilliant music, and this is a brilliant presentation. Can't wait for more of the D.N.O.!

A mis 42 años recién he visto TAXI DRIVER y recién he descubieto esta joya musical. Perfecta, maravillosa melodía. Regalo para mís oídos. Una obra maestra. Robert De Niro hace algunos años visito Perú . Por Dios no sabia que habia interpretado tan increible personaje. Ignorancia mia de no soy tan fanática dek cine pero actuaciones como la que hizo De Niro es para aplaudirlo de pié junto con esta extraordinaria melodía.

There's nothing like watching the conductor and orchestra perform a classical piece of music or in this case, a memorable movie score, because a live performance makes one more fully appreciate all of the complexities and orchestrations that go into the creation of the score and the incredible talent of the musicians themselves. I agree when she is conducting you can sure tell the difference. Hard to describe it but without a doubt I hear it. 1973 my first time in NYC, a warm night in spring, in Spanish Harlem. Old tenement buildings up on about the 5th floor, someone playing Blues on a Trumpet. I stood on an almost empty street listening in awe.

I worked for cabify for a while and I used to play this soundtrack. Costumers were thinking I was at the point of shooting them, sure... Anyway, this orchestrar blows my mind, they play all these soundtracks as they were the original. 10/10

When they zoom on to the musicians when they play, i get kinda nervous as if it was me whos playing and MUST do everything right cause u know its live xD But for real, all these people are incredibly talanted and i looooove their work!! I rlly wanna visit them live some day!!
