Kone Elevator - Nordstrom @ Westside Pavilion - Los Angeles, California

[Recorded 11/14/2014] This one is interesting because it fully replaced a previous elevator. The first elevator to occupy this hoistway was a Montgomery traction elevator. I find it interesting that Nordstrom decided to fully modernize an elevator rather than a partial modernization. It's very interesting that somebody decided to do this... whatever helps you sleep at night pal!!!!

Interesting how they replaced this and then a few months later in 2015 would announce that they are moving to Century City. 2 Years later and it's almost moving time.

I can't find an exact date, but if you know how the progress of the store in Century City is going along, then you have an idea of how much time is left. The opening date for Century City is October 7th, so I would think you have until then, which is plenty of time.

It is strange that this Nordstrom decided to fully replace the old elevator. It's even stranger that they used KONE rather than Schindler who they seem to typically use.

from what I know if Nordstrom wants a traction they go for KONE but if they want a hydraulic they go for Schindler. The new three-story Nordstrom near me has a Schindler hydro

You may disagree, but I consider KONE a luxury brand like Mitsubishi. I am in no way saying that KONE is better or even as good as Mitsubishi, but they are in the same league. They are like the BMW of Elevators if you will... Of course Mitsubishi is like Ferrari.
