one of your Mechanics, comes to your office to discuss one of the buildings where he is the primary site mechanic. He begins by telling you that he has noticed the level of oil in the tank has dropped. He cannot see any oil spilt and any apparent leaks and therefore cannot account for the drop in oil level. The oil that he reclaims from the pit pail is not sufficient to bring the oil back to the original level. From experience, you begin to consider that there is a loss of oil from the cylinder in the ground and need to act immediately. What are some of the steps that you can take to begin your investigation? The elevator was installed in 1978, and it is a 4-story building (no basement level). The customer is an office building with doctor offices on the top floor and various businesses occupying the remainder of the building. 1. Explain in your own words what the scenario is. What are some of the questions that you need to find an answer to? Do you understand the components involved? Do you understand the functionality of the components? 2. What could happen if this isn’t fixed? What are the pros and cons? Who would benefit from this upgrade? 3.
