KONE MonoSpace - 20 years of innovation

March 14, 2016 marks the 20th anniversary of the launch of KONE MonoSpace, a machineroomless elevator concept. KONE's hoisting technology, dubbed the EcoDisc®, with a motorized traction system eliminated the need for elevator machine-rooms in buildings and ushered in a new era.
In our pursuit to celebrate the creative minds that made the KONE MonoSpace a reality, we met Harri Hakala, one of the creators of MonoSpace and currently a Research Director at KONE.
At KONE, our mission is to improve the flow of urban life. We provide elevators, escalators and automatic building doors, as well as solutions for maintenance and modernization to add value to buildings throughout their life cycle.

I ❤ Ecodisc!! You don't need to make quieter brakes though, it's part of the Ecodisc charm! I do like the hum of the 4th generation Ecodisc though!

Linear motor was a bad idea but how does it make Monospace a good idea. It is expensive, dangerous to maintain, noisy etc. Hybrid hoisting is better but not invented by KONE. see peqs.fi
