In fairness, Kong really could have signalled him a different way, he effectively made a war cry and a claim for Godzilla's territory. After the shit they went through before and Godzilla sparing him only to be challenged again royally pissed Godzilla off. It's like after several years of avengers civil war, Steve just shouts for the entire globe to hear: "TONY STARK'S A CUCK!" you bet your ass Iron Man gonna come in swinging.
