I've purchased the 28 3.5 (EE) version, the 50 1.7 (revised, AE), and the 55mm f/3.5 micro (AE) for under $100 and all in excellent condition. That is an entire kit for under $100. The Autoreflex I purchased was $30. That is crazy good and then all the rest of my money can go towards film.

I love this lens. I use it on my Konica T2 for shooting everything and Fuji X-T2 (ASP-C 75mm equivalent) for portraits. My favorite lens.

I checked out the flicker page! Great shots ! Really enjoyed your work. Yea that lens really produces great Black and white files …Tones are beautiful! It does look sharp as well. Might have to pick one up. I have the 40mm F1.8 pancake. It’s looks as sharp or sharper than the 40mm. They made some great glass

Excellent video, lots of details. I was lucky to get a Hexanon 50mm f1.7 in a bundle with the 40mm, 28mm. This lens is very good and precise.

I love Konica lenses. I have the 50 f1.7, 28 f2.8, 135 f2.8. They all render beautiful images. These lenses produce a 3D pop.

I have the AE version and so far having a ball. I'm a newbie so... learning. But, using on a Canon is an interesting challenge. I'm only interested in manual anyway so... fine, but focusing with this lens can be a challenge handheld. I also have the 40mm Hexanon which I adore, but another focus bishes.. handheld. LOL. But, using this lens is also because of my budget... i just can't afford any Canon lenses... not in my situation. So, I adapt.

I can confirm optical quality of this lens. It was only lens option to consider when I acquired my Autoreflex T3.

What are your favorite lenses in the Konica system?

At the moment, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of an 85/1.8. I had one years ago and I'm really looking forward to using it again.

Hello! I've recently discovered your channel and have been enjoying your content. It is, however, contributing to my GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) problem, haha. Have a great day, CC

I looked at your photos. I wish you had more examples of near shots with Strong Bokeh. Everything is in focus, too sharp. That is not why we use vintage lenses.

It was a kind of madness when it came out. Today, it's like buying a modern lens for crop sensors. As I said up there, the Konica 52 mm 1.8 is already too sharp for me @ 3.5 for videos... so what can you do with this one : maybe using it around F 2.0 or 2.4 ?... yep, could be interesting.

Great review Brian. 👍

The dodgy aperture rings are the only aspect of hexanon lenses that let them down IMO. The only exceptions I've found (so far) are the 40mm and the 50 1.8 ( but I read somewhere that they were actually made by Tokina, which would explain things).

I have a few nice old Hexanons which I used to use in film days. I'm wondering, what digital camera would be compatible with these? Any kind person suggest some?

Brian, hello. As a lover of Minolta lenses, I was also interested in learning about this lens. Thanks for this informative video. But what if.... What if 50mm isn't wide enough? I mean - is there the same high-quality sharp lens but 35mm? In the same line, perhaps? I mean lenses that you personally like with this range.

For sharpness it's hard to beat the Hexanon 40mm f/1.8 pancake lens.

The Hexanon UC AR 28mm f1.8 is absolutely *ridiculously* good. The 35mm f2 is as well.

hi, what do you think about the 50mm 1.4? its better opcion than this one or not? thanks a lot

I've never used one. This is the best info I'm aware of regarding that lens: www.buhla.de/Foto/Konica/Objektive/e50_14.html

for my experiences the Hexanon 50mm f1.7 and the later Hexanon 50mm f1.8 both are better choices
@vivianvaldi78712 жыл бұрын
The 52 mm 1.8 is already too sharp @ 3.5 for video on a GH5 m4/3. I would rather choose a Konica 35-100 mm 2.8 or an Olympus 30-70 mm 3.6 for IQ complexity than a 50 mm prime Very good zooms are much more interesting for OOF character. Primes are nice if you need perfect color neutrality & high contrast.
