I did kon mari method about 2 years ago, its funny how now everyone is doing it. The Konmari method is more than just folding, its more about keeping things that spark joy in your life and realizing that you don't need so many things, clothes etc. less is more in my opinion. The book does a better job at explaining things than the netflix show. I was surprised you didn't get rid of things when you saw the drawers were jam packed.

My husband and I have sort of an unspoken rule: If we are cleaning out the closet, which we do twice a year, and we find an old item in the chaos, if the words, "I'd forgotten all about this!" Or, "I forgot that I had this," escapes the person's mouth, then that item goes into the donation pile. That is, unless it brings you uncontainable joy and you're just so crazy happy that you found it, etc. If you don't do a little dance of happiness after finding it, then let it go to someone else to whom it may bring joy. If it makes you feel fat, ugly, stupid, or negative in any way, then get rid of it!

Ithis is so great. I think I'll put a note to this effect in his drawer. Yeah my husband wasn't going to do this. But he was very excited to see all his t shirts stored vertically. I don't let him tease me. The kon mark method is very respectful and that is motivating him a bit.
@1BlueEyeCreativeStudio4 жыл бұрын
Oh, wow, there are several of these methods, like for folding shirts, especially, that I've been doing for a while, before I'd even heard of KonMari. After trial and error, folding, refolding and still coming back to a mess after someone pulls something out of the drawer carelessly, I started folding in such a way (as this lovely lady here does) so that you can see the front of the shirt. The easier it is to identify each piece of clothing at a glance, the less likely it'll be that someone will destroy the drawer searching for a specific item. And, even though, I've been doing it this way for quite a while, it was still really cool for me to watch the instructions and hear the REASONS why it's good to do things this way. It really made me stop and appreciate the benefits. I am so thankful for the time it saves me in the morning getting ready, the hassle it takes out of putting things way (because there is an easy method to follow) and the tranquility that I feel when I open my drawer and see everything so nice and neat. And when my husband does the laundry, as he's been doing a lot since I hurt my arm, it makes it quicker and easier for him. He can open any drawer and know exactly what goes in it and how it needs to be folded in order to fit in the drawer. (We have limited drawer space, and very shallow drawers, so so we have to maximize space.) It's easy to maintain, makes life easier and looks really nice. I can't even verbalize why... It just makes me happy!
@ansleycarlson77043 жыл бұрын
So awesome! I do folding/hanging just like you do! I started doing this method a while back. It gives you a ton more room, and you can see everything, instead of having to pull everything out, and mess your fold up, Making the drawers messy fast. I had mo idea that this was a method, or even had a name. I had started doing it, then watching you, I noticed you do it, then I saw this.. I'll never ever do it another way. You can see everything in the drawer, and it keeps your drawers tidy!!! I love your house. I love your style. I love your videos, all of them! I absolutely am obsessed with watching your videos. I learn so much from you. You're also very beautiful! Your clean home makes me feel happy. Yout home is my style. Your home is mu comfort zone. Just watching you puts me in a great mood. I wish you had done it with Chad. One of the things she states is to do it with everyone in the house hold so everyone is responsible for folding and knowing how to fold the things. That makes it less stressful on everyone because everyone knows how to do it . I know for us my significant other kept telling me “the folding isn’t as great as yours tho”, but I kept telling him the more you practice the neater it will get. It’s practice.

We moved in together a few months ago and I convinced him to KonMari his clothes in exchange for me doing his laundry and folding. I fold my boyfriend’s clothes the exact way you did for the exact same reason! He said the same thing your man did about not knowing how to fold; I just asked that he try the best he can and even rolling instead of folding the last part in thirds if that’s what it takes (only if he changed his mind about wearing that shirt that day).

I already have them stacked sideways too instead of on top of each other, but some turned out flimsey and wouldn't hold, so excited to see if this way it will work.💗🌺

With my pyjamas, I fold them into the long rectangle first then put the top on top of the bottoms before I fold into the small square. That way they go in together and never get seperated; you just pull out the whole set together! X

it really helps to press down the clothes with an open palm in between each fold to get it super smooth and compact!!

Thank you so much for the suggestion I can't wait to get home and do this!! But I did have a quick question do you think that is going to be a problem with plus size t-shirts?
@SimplyAlexandra6 жыл бұрын
Hey Lequan! I don't think so at all! Marie Kondo says you don't have to follow her method exactly. You can alter if you need to a little bit for sure! 🤗🌸💕

Wow so many T-shirt’s! Did you discard? I thought Konmari was all about prioritising?

You'll see that part in an upcoming video! In the intro I talk about how this is going to be a process. 🤗🌸💕

@@SimplyAlexandra but why spend all that time folding and finding space for things you aren't even going to be keeping? I think that is the confusion being shared with a lot of us viewers...

I’m reading the book, it’s about keeping only what sparks joy., she also says not to do one room at a time, because it won’t work. I would also only do one room and closet at a time. I found 14 pair of jeans ( all mine in my closet!) 12 shorts... Thank you for your folding inspiration ! I also fold with graphics out. Looking forward to your next video !

Lol I’m a little late but if you’re still looking for tips I’ve found one that works for me. Basically, you put in the items in columns facing you but for my drawers I seemed to fit some more by putting in items in two rows horizontally. Granted, this is the first video from your channel that I’ve watched so you may have already solved your issue of storing those items but I thought I’d share anyways! I’m definitely subscribing though- I loved this video ❤️
