Conrad’s Interview Style: “On this day, Meltzer said this. For this match Meltzer gave this many stars. For the Nitro on this date, Meltzer said this.” Deep, hard hitting stuff, man.

..uhhhh, Dave meltzer has historically been the one & only pro rasslin “journalist” that there has ever been. So, what’s your point? Who else is he supposed to quote, Copernicus…? Meltzer recorded & documented almost everything.

@Matt-cr4vv
@Matt-cr4vv Жыл бұрын
Conrad has explained his use of Meltzer on the show a ton of times. Conrad uses the Observer or the Torch at times because it’s the best resource available that has the events of the time they’re discussing compiled into one place. It includes both behind the scenes things that did or didn’t happen and is all conveniently in one resource to easily use. It fits the style of the show to discuss what did or didn’t happen and what the host was thinking and/or why they made a decision at that period in time. And at times you get to hear someone go off about whatever Meltzer said because it wasn’t true or they disagree and adds entertainment value to the show. Conrad has offered people who complain about him using it in the past that if they can provide him a better resource to use that would accomplish the same thing as the newsletters that he would gladly be willing to use those on the show. Nobody has been able to do that because the reality is a similar resource doesn’t exist and he’s using the best thing he has available to him to help guide a discussion. It’s easy to understand why it’s used if you think about it truthfully and again if you know of a better resource out there I’m sure Conrad would be glad for you to provide it to him. And clearly if you listen it isn’t just the newsletter, the newsletter sparks a more in depth conversation from the host as they respond to what was said in the newsletter. People just want to discredit Conrad and being good at what he does by making this argument that really doesn’t hold much water if you look at the full picture.

He keeps doing 83 Weeks because it's clear from their chemistry that Eric is one of Conrad's favorites. I think they respect each other on an intellectual and business level. Their AEW debates are great, Conrad's def an AEW fanboy but he's not "shutting" Eric down it's always a very lively discussion and Eric gets plenty of opps to crap on AEW. I'm a loyal listener to 83 weeks, always have it on at the gym on Monday.

The only reason Conrad even has all these podcasts is because he's Rick's son in law, he's obviously well connected, and used those connections to start a monopoly.
@Matt-cr4vv
@Matt-cr4vv Жыл бұрын
First thing first Conrad started the podcast network before he was Rics son in law. Second, he was making connections before he met Ric but yes his relationship with Ric helped to develop the connections to build it all. That’s how life in general works so we should probably not act like it was some nefarious thing. But on top of Ric he built a reputation to get people to work with him because he treated people well in his dealings so that those people would speak highly of him to others to build a trust level. But on top of those things he has the network because he built a viable business plan to monetize the shows to make it worth someone’s time to do the show. When he approached people to do a show with him he had a demonstrated business plan that showed how it could be monetizing and assured people that doing the show would be worthwhile. That’s why he has so many people because he has built a platform that actually makes them money. Multiple guys like Bruce or Eric have said how hesitant they were because their prior podcasts didn’t make any money but how Conrad demonstrated a clear path to make money and proved it was worth their time. If he wasn’t doing that the shows wouldn’t be around just because he’s Rics som in law.

That is the thing why Conrad and his Podcasts with Eric, J.R., and Bruce are good things to have around because Meltzer may have talked to someone here and there over a particular situation but he will build an entire narrative off vs hearing it from the people who were there if you use your critical thinking skills and start to hear the stories and get all to most of thr facts you can peice together what happened at a particular event that all these people were there for. Sometimes the real answer is simply why didn't Christian get a title shot at such a place, because he went to the wrong arena, why not have not Shawn vs Bret at Maina 13 because Austin and Taker were getting better reactions. Sometimes you need to hear from a lot of people do know what happened like 2000 Bash at the Beach, Russo mist likely went into business for himself after people like Booker T found moments before he went out to wrestle a second match with Jeff. So having Conrad around is good because it helps dispel some if the rumor from over the years.

The "hate" stems from two things. 1: People are tuning in to listen to the Wrestling personality speak. None of us are tuning in to hear about Conrad's shitty car insurance company. No one cares and it is irritating as shit to be involved in hearing someone telling a story and suddenly youre hearing the co-host pitching car insurance every 5 minutes throughout an hour long podcast. 2: He is disrespectful as fuck towards those in the business. He will quote Meltzer's dumb ass, then the person who was ACTUALLY THERE will say "no, we were doing this angle.to get to this point down the road." Conrad proceeds to continually cop an attitude and call his "guests" liars repeatedly because they said Dave Meltzer was full of shit. It's irritating, and off-putting. He has zero professionalism whatsoever and things he was standing beside Bischoff and McMahon and Russo through the entire thing. He wasn't. He should shut the fuck up and let those who were actually there explain what was happening and why.
