The NWO should have been defeated by Sting, and done it right at Starrcade. It should have been Sting leading a crew of WCW guys (Goldberg, Bret, DDP, Luger) vs NWO (Hogan, Hall, Nash, Savage) and beating them to blow the feud off sometime in like 98. Maybe you can make those 1 on 1 matches, but the NWO angle shouldnt have lasted until 99. Way too long of an angle by then.

After rewatching the NWO Era of Nitro, I agree with Disco. When they decided to join the Wolfpac with NWO B&W, it led to the end of WCW. It made Nash look like such a loser. He finally beats Goldberg in the biggest match of the year, and then just lays down for Hogan and hands him the title. They had this huge stable of guys and had nothing for them to do and the show just went to shit in early 99. Shortly after that, they changed the Nitro set and the intro to the show. It all went downhill after the Finger Poke of Doom and the horrible New Blood vs Millionaires Club angle was the final nail in the coffin.
@liquidsnake6879
@liquidsnake6879 Жыл бұрын
The match was shit and the only reason Nash won was because Hall tased Goldberg, nobody knew what to do with Goldberg after he beat Hogan, his whole appeal was the fact he squashed everyone he went into the ring with, you couldn't keep that going for long and he'd already beaten everyone.

Starrcade 1997 that right there should have been the end of that group all the way to SUPERBRAWL they should have lost their matches Hogan cuts a promo kicking Nash and Hall syxx out of the group konnan . Through the whole year of 1998 you have them feuding with each other the black and white and the red and black war games all the way to starrcade 98 meanwhile RAVEN FLOCK watching all of this plotting his attack after Kevin Nash beats Hogan starrcade 98 they make their attack and there you go you can make Raven and his group a huge threat

I don't blame Bischoff for taking Hogans side. Hall and Nash may have had the better ideas, but they were always fucking with people. By 98 when all this happened, they had already pulled numerous stunts that they will tell you about, like when they allowed WcW/Eric to believe they might be returning to WWF and got them to give them better contracts. You can say they played the game right, but long term not really, cuz that type of thing instills deep distrust in a person. Like from all the stories the Outsiders themselves tell, I really see no reason why Eric would take their side over Hogans...

He was a double edged sword. They were drowning before he arrived and he gave them a bump, but they were still struggling. Then, Hall and Nash arrived, Hogan joined them and that’s when they got hot. 1996-1999, Hall and Nash were in their primes and Hogan was way over the hill. As a fan, I thought WCW was too focused on Hogan. Hall and Nash were both high stars who were cool. Hogan just looked old by the NWO days. Having the World Title on Hogan for long was boring. Nash only held the WCW World Title for 97 days over 5 runs and Hall didn't even get the belt once. That was the main problem with WCW.

Kevin's point about the Wolfpac being buried as they looked like idiots for not doing a run-in when a couple of them were jumped is sort of ironic. It wasn't too long before that when the nWo parodied the Horsemen in their own backyard but managed to talk their way out of the Horsemen doing a run-in - basically burying the Horsemen by making them look like chumps. Goes to show how often plans could change if someone managed to say the right thing to Bischoff.
@JOHNKOOL1
@JOHNKOOL1 3 жыл бұрын
Your Comparison is off, the situations are not the same, your comparing apples and oranges. The nWo were simply parodying the horseman and insulting them like DX did the nation. It doesn't make the horseman look like 'chumps' for not running down, They could simply not want to respond to or acknowledge what were just juvenile comedic insults by the nWo. You dont run to go fight whenever somebody calls you names. The wolfpac situation is different, Lex luger one of their members was being jumped and beaten down by the nWo in the ring and none of the wolfpac came down to help him, they just let him get beat down despite the fact earlier in the same show the wolfpac had gone out and cut a promo about how unified they were. What happened buried them because it shat on the entire idea of them being unified and made it look like they didnt care about each other or at the least the didnt give a damn about Luger. Kevin Nash was then meant to go out and cut another promo raising the question of ok well where was he when was luger was getting jumped? I even remember watching WCW as a kid and having the impression that the wolfpac didnt really rock with each other.

Hall was fucked up most of the time and Nash only cares about himself. I don't see it going much further with Hall & Nash in charge. I don't think they would have lasted anyway.

Meanwhile you got The Rock and Stonecold making good, non cheap, wrestling matches and actually changing things for the better of wrestling, not just their selfish needs...All Nash and Hall did was tarnish older wrestlers careers for their bs and all they do is cry about the business now. At the end of the day I'm glad WCW folded because all the wrestlers with the big egos and demanding for more money went back to kiss Vince's booty hole. Only wrestling boss that can keep all the wrestlers egos in check is Vince. Eric was too much of a push over and I'm worried that with all the wrestling stars that AEW has acquired there will be clashes of egos, and TK might not be able to put them in check. WWE WRESTLERS, "PAY ME MORE OR ELSE I'M LEAVING TO YOUR COMPETITOR." VINCE, "Go right ahead! I could replace you easily. And you'll be back sooner or later to kiss my ass for your job back ... Yes. If Shawn Michaels would've left WWF he would've been the 3rd member over Hogan in the first place. The whole premise behind the Nwo & how it was being built was that it was a WWF invasion, that you had these 2 Outsiders who every wrestling fan already knew & they were coming into the WCW taking over. It wasn't like Hall & Nash were 2 brand new guys, they were renegades who came to disrupt the promotion, if you put Bret, Sting, Shawn or just about any halfway over performer at the time it still would've booked Legendary White Hot heat.

It’s funny how non of you get this one simple truth, with the exception of Austin and The Rock, Hulk Hogan was the most over wrestler of all time. Hulk Hogan drew more money than any wrestler (Austin and The Rock excepted) ever. Hogan created more business than any other wrestler. Hogan wrestled at a main event level longer than anyone except Ric Flair during the expansion period. You may not like Hogan but you cannot deny that without Hogan the business and it is a business would be nothing like it is today.

If you take away Hogan WCW never wins the Monday night wars. Nash is a top tier star but he isn't a top tier champion. He isn't a good enough actor. He has no where near the charisma of Hogan.
