Fun fact : the real life Viking Rollo raided and terrorised France year after year. Until the French King made him an offer he couldn't refuse. After paying him a huge sum he gave him the land of Normandy. On condition he and his men be baptised as Christians and to defend the land against raiders like the Vikings.(which he did). They married local women and slowly adopted the local customs to eventually become the French speaking Normans. Only took about 100 years mind.
