I think in these situations they let the baby see the person before the costume and watch as they're getting prepared, then still interact with them after they're in full costume. I read that MGMT did something like that with the toddler who was in the video for Kids. I don't think you can just get away with introducing a baby to a costumed monster who's already in character. They also might have had to audition until they found a baby that still didn't get scared.

lol my brother actually got snatched by a krampus when we were kids. he stuffed him into a bag and carried him around for a bit. ah, beautiful childhood trauma ❤ ❤ btw, krampus isn't a german folklore but got its roots in the alp regions including bavaria, switzerland and austria. in austria, we got krampus runs every year, freaking scary for kids and sometimes for grown ups too 😂

In theory, Krampus doesn't eat children, he punishes them if they misbehaved; also such greeting-cards and gifts depicting Krampus are given to kids filled w presents and a twink of the eye for decades along w ones showing St Nicolas. The thing you really need to fear are the Perchten in the Alps (young ppl dressed up in goatskin leggings w demon masks who get drunk and sometimes actually beat up bystanders, this is a tradition here, in Western-Central Europe, too)
