The very first album I purchased was Wild and Peaceful. Side 1 was great: Funky Stuff, followed by More Funky Stuff, then my favorite song of 1974, Jungle Boogie. Then a slow jam, the title of which escapes me, and the side ended with Hollywood Swinging. Good times!

Yeah, I agree K&TG was a straight up jazz/funk band in the 70's. Even James Brown said they had one of the baddest horns sections-then they went pop/disco.

When JT joined this band it was the downfall of brother Kool and the gang! I was digging Kool in 1971!
@Charles-tt3dr8 жыл бұрын
+MikeHF I totally agree with you, but when JT joined K & T,G in the late 1970's he extended their success a little longer, because their Soul Jazz, Funk style was starting to sound a little dated.
@TheBfunky177 жыл бұрын
Yeah, When J.T. join the band,,,Their Funk was never the Same!!!, Just a Plan of The man to Destroy The Funk!!!,..
@jamesgraham31163 жыл бұрын
Nope, wasn't a downfall, they just wanted that mainstream success. They actually made more money when they crossed over. I liked them better before the change personally.
@jamesgraham31163 жыл бұрын
Remember, Kool is the one that made the decision to go to the other side. Lionel Ritchie did it and had greater success. You have to realize that show business is 20% show, and 80% business.
@freein23393 жыл бұрын
All about business...they needed hit records and a lot of groups couldn't pull that off after the 70s...Earth Wind and Fire couldn't do it...
