My younger sister lost her fight to cancer this morning. Listening to this reminds me of when were in our 20s and 30 and we would just hit the road 1 or 2 am with this and the song "Riding High". R.I.P little sister.

it pains me to read so many ignorant poor souls who have no idea the amazing stuff coming out today. there's so much coming out in a single day that you couldn't possibly hear it all, yet you sit there complaining there's nothing of value. turn off the radio, you need to dig for it woman. stop living in the past, give today's world, of which you are a part of, some credit.
@backtoafrika8 жыл бұрын
It's not just the music. It was the era a period of time associated with something. You have no idea what this music is really all about and the meaning behind it.....Maybe your age in the era you live in is ignorant. I know music it's not just for the ear. It's for the mind and the soul...........

You are blind and deaf, young I guess, and naive. I post comments on music videos from around the world. Go to my Blog and read all the comments I make on people's music from every country I know. Sweetie sees I'm a person who listens to music not only with the ear, but the mind and soul because most artists I listen to are not black artists. I don't understand the languages but their music touch, something inside so I leave a comment. Is that simple enough for you? I'm international when it comes to music. I'm Global I love it all............. This is a very fine piece. Why are you listening to it and making comments? You know good music I will give you that much.

Simeon Banner you must not be from Chi Town!!! It’s where the grown ups get permission by the City to block off the street on both ends so no cars can drive through. Then ALL the neighbors bring out BBQ grills, card tables, food, MUSIC 🎵- usually there is a DJ - and a HUGE JUMPING JACK, BOUNCY HOUSE for the kids & games - maybe entertainment, family friendly- clowns, water balloons, food, drinks, music, fun.... I thought EVERY Neighbrhood had these - Summer parties 🎉 in the street - on your block. Thus the name “Block Party” 😁👍🏽❤️💯

This song came out in 1974. The summer of 1974 was full of summer madness from what I recall. At least for me it was. That was the summer that my family and I moved to another house. We didn't move very far. In fact, we even stayed in the same county where we were living. However, I was just a little kid back then, so that was a big deal to me. This song captures the atmosphere perfectly of what that summer was like for me back in 1974.

This song just never, ever, gets old. ALWAYS sounds good. Every time, always. No matter the time of day or activity - weekend cleaning, afternoon BBQ with friends and fam, while having a good drive with the wind blowing, late night relaxing, while having some good lovin', whatever. Doesn't matter. It's always just so good.

Funny how a song is so different for so many different people. I hear this, I hear myself sitting into a sports car, shutting the door, cranking it up, and coasting down some street lit city streets. I'm a 61 yr old white woman (who grew up outside of Baltimore) who grew up in the ’70s. “Cool & the Gang” was yes a black band, but so was every “Motown Hit.” My 1st 45 record was “Diana Ross.” We NEVER once used or heard the N-word or gave a shit if you were black or white. We loved ALL the COOL music the black artist played. And we also listened to Led Zeppelin, Stones, Doors, etc. This world is a mess right now! Our music influenced us then and unfortunately today. The lyrics & garbage they call music today are sinful!

not sure what made this a race thing with you. nobody said anything about race. music is music, we all have ears and a want to tickle them with music no matter where the music comes from. black and white and baltimore... shut up with the race shit. its music, music sees no color... only racist people do, so id take a hard look in the mirror next time you go to say something when youre listening to diana ross again. you think she cares who listens to her music? she made it for all to enjoy. liberals made racebaiting to separate us by colors. stupidest ideology ive ever heard. worked on you apparently. seems to work on the weak minded.

This is one of my all time instrumental tracks, just love the early Jazz fused Kool & The Gang material, before they realised what a Ladies Night can do for you lol, this track has hypnotically eerie led melodies along synthesizer lines, which just oozes quality all the way through, i have never played this once on my deck, always requires a rewind, its Winter Sadness but miss the Summer Madness

Mia444 44 for real I found this many nights on some crappy old 1970's car radio with horrible speakers that would rattle when I cranked this on my way home and because another show came on after I never knew it was Kool and the Gang. It didn't have a defogger so I had a hand scraper I used when driving home in the winter. But, it had a great radio.I would get out of work just about the time that Alan Almond was signing off of Pillow Talk and crank the radio up and away I would go to the Expressway and drive home to Davison, Mi. That was 40 + years ago. This sure does bring back memories and lots of them. I also heard about Alan Almond dying. So sorry to hear about that. He was not much younger than I am now. I remember when i was 18 i just left home got my first car it was a 1962 Ford Falcon i put a 8 track and this is one of my favorite bands back then. This song brings back great memories of those days. Those were great times to be a live and i was truly happy.

This is definitely summer madness, crusin with friends in your beat down car, but that was all you guys had to get to the party and back down the highway early Saturday morning hardly any cars on the road coming back from a Friday party or club all nighter, with the sun rising in the distance and some of the guys too doped to speak crashed out on the back seat and you and your co driver just soaking it up. No words are spoken but you both understand the groove. Days you will never get back.. Cherish those precious moments, because the older you get the less friends you have...But music like this keeps the memories alive

I remember going to sleep to this song, riding to this song and watching my parents hand dance off this song. I can say its one of my favorite jazz songs of all time. I know my kids will adopt it as a favorite just like I did as a child. I can agree it don't matter what time of day or the mood you're in just listening to it will put you in a better place mentally.

On a sailboat off the California coast, sailing toward Catalina and a gorgeous sunset, a glass of wine and your favorite other next to you chillin'. Thinking about what the coming night will bring in the great year of 1975. It was all so good, and somehow we messed it all up.

I can't believe this thing is almost 50 years old! They used to play this on the radio when I was a kid growing up in Barbados and I still feel the same way now as I did back then every single time I hear it. The synth chords are nothing less than sick!!!❤❤❤

My late friend Tommy was a life long L.A. Laker fan, and he sadly missed this week. He and I were backstage at the Kool and the Gang, K.C. and the Sunshine Band at Brown Square Park Rochester Music Festival 1993. In 1984 me and my ex met Kool, the Bassist and the Drummer and the Sax player before a show in OKC. This jam was our favorite, and perfect for how I feel, thinking about the blessings of Freedom. For my friend, and friends, be safe, and remember it ain't "free"...
