Koraidon is such an amazing design. I had a lot of doubts when the format got announced about its competitive viability but after playing it for a while now i think it is top tier

you can use your ride koraidon in your battle teams, just swap to battle team view and scroll through your boxes until you see the special box with only your ride koraidon in it, then you can put it in your battle teams for ranked and tournaments

I think koraidon will be a more niche pick then groudon because of its 4x weakness and groudon having the ground typing being immune to electric attacks

Having played both for about a week each, I will say Koraidon feels way better than Groudon in the single restricted format

No, 4 time weaknesses don't matter that much cause you die from 2 times weaknesses anyway in the more powerful restricted formats, the extra damage doesn't matter, you don't die more.

I originally thought so too, but having to gamble with Precipice Blades really doesn't feel good 😅 Koraidon is also outperforming Groudon in a lot of the online tournaments. I'll be interested to see if that keeps up at the Indianapolis Regional this weekend

Rayquaza is an interesting strategy! I personally think it might struggle to keep up with the power level of some of the other restricted Pokemon on its own though. May need a double restricted format

The testing ive been putting in, fairy yes its scary but manageable. Tera or having speed control helps with that, forces fighting weak mons to tera or faint. I did like 50% to a water tera Amoongus with flare blitz and mine is jolly so adamant must do so much more. Far more reliable that Groudon, i missed so many P Blades and add Chi yu with heat wave...Amazing when it lands but tilting when you double miss.

Ok one thing I experienced is that Koraidons sun also triggers opponents Photosynthesis...fluttermane destroys me

@@Robck27 Yea, that's an unfortunate downside to having a sun setter is that opposing Protosynthesis is not always easy to play around, but Koraidon with a Fire-type tera can help you get around the Flutter Mane

I do feel like they did Koraidon a little dirty by making his signature move Fighting. Miraidon gets an Electric signature move, which also naturally gets a boost from his Electric Terrain, meanwhile Koraidons' doesn't get a natural boost from sun being up. But who knows, maybe that is a good thing xD

I feel like it’s a good thing because fighting still hits so many things that need counters super effective. It’s “3 stabs” (fighting/fire/dragon) give it a better reason to offensively use it to overcome it’s 4x weakness to fairy.

Personally I think its strong but balance. In testing I noticed it is kinda forced to run clear amulet, tera fire, and jolly to at least speed tie chien pao and fluttermane to function optimally but even though that is the case, the team I am working on for LA regionals has a hard time breaking it and my chosen restricted hates staring it down unless it teras. Also btw it is a high based attack mon that resists foul play with its vanilla typing.

i think the correct set is Adamant. Flutter will outspeed you no matter what after protosynthesis so i'd rather go for more damage and even a bit of bulk than play that speed game. and i've actually been running covert cloak over clear amulet lately and it is great. you still ohko incin with collision course even at -1 and there really aren't other meta intimidators so the immunity to fake out from incin and rillaboom has been awesome

@@scottcrysel I see what you are saying. Technically all you need is to run 179 speed to creep jolly ogerpon and you outspeed anything base 110 or lower. I do still think it is forced to tera fire though in order to avoid burn especially since willo is being used more. Incin, rotom, sableye, and even shadow calyrex I have seen run it. That being said I am building a zamazenta team for LA and every tera ghost koraidon has beaten me.
