@OtherL It doesn't at a surface level, but Wolfey is known for understanding the metagame very well to the point of bring teams that can completely upend them. This knowledge and suprise factor from wolfey is enough to win some sets alone. To this end he has talked about people hacking his personal date, social media included just for a chance of getting access to his insight and or teams. There was a recent tournament where wolfey had a phenomenal under the radar team that matched well against popular teams going into that year's national tournament but a team leak just days before left the format in such a panic that a good chunk of the competition adjusted their teams specifically to counter his or jusr outright stole his team for the tournament

The two are very important for Pokémon, FSG is responsible for introducing so many people into competitive Pokémon, while Wolfey is quite impressive, to say the least. It's funny to think that Wolfey's Vaporeon with the move Celebrate made it into one of FSG's documentaries because everyone just accepted it was a legitimate strategy. Not only did he troll FSG, he trolled that whole tournament and the entire VGC community. The man is undisputably, a legend.

You should also remember that Wolfe basically shaped multiple competitive metas. Bro literally caused a perish trap meta after his team got LEAKED. Honestly, disregarding the placements he has achieved, I think that is one of the most defining events for him and also great proof of him being “the best” Pokémon competitor. Edit: he also is so creative when creating teams on showdown that I can’t help but be impressed sometimes.

Great video. I’m a Pokémon boomer, I cut my teeth on Pokémon blue, dominating the playground in elementary school in the late 90s. I actually didn’t know until this video that Wolfe and I shared our hometown, I’m also from those same Virginia suburbs of DC and almost entered that same regional only to decide against it as I had to focus on moving preparations. I found Wolfe through Alpharad in recent years and his analysis and talent reinvigorated my love for the franchise. Right now, my childhood Pokémon card collection is putting me through university. Maybe if I was a little younger I could have been a VGC competitor in my own right, but in my advanced age I’ll be content in cheering the hometown hero on. As for you, you earned a subscription. Loved this video, most poketubers are pretty bland but you have a genuine talent for storytelling. Great work.

It was really at the junction of both the casual and the competitive sphere that enable those to meet. The wholesome part is that everybody wins: Viewers, players, modders, youtubers, youtubists, VGC, casual, youtube & pokemon.

Wolfey got me (idk how) to watch cybertron. I'd love to see more videos like this highlighting players and their achievements. Can't wait for the next video like this highlighting cybertron 👀 lol

I'm just so proud of how far Wolfe has come with his content. I've been subbed to him since 2016 and have consistently been a fan of his videos. It has been amazing watching him go from unedited videos where he just rambled while making tier lists (still very enjoyable) to branching out and collaborating with other creators, and then completely overhauling his content into refined, highly edited, and ambitious projects. He's a competitive and highly technical person, yet at the same time he never takes himself too seriously and isn't afraid to just have fun with things, and I've always enjoyed that about him.

I owe it all to Wolfe. he's the reason I started playing VGC, and the reason I still do. Truly the best Pokemon player in the world. The fact that he got eliminated day 1 of Worlds due to his team being leaked right before NAIC (therefore making Wolfe very inexperienced with his Worlds team) has gotta be one of the saddest things in pokemon history. Wolfey forever.

great video, I have been playing vgc for over a decade and I am really thankful for all wolfey has done for the community and game, along with being a family friendly creator and all around positive guy devoid of controversy. I also respect him for sticking with bad jokes that only he or his friends find funny. He is a great face for the scene, amazing player, glad to have him. Hope to see more influencer tourneys in the future, showing people how much fun you can have, how much you can accomplish, and how much you can learn just by picking up the game and playing it is awesome.
