Rest in peace, dear students from the Sewol... Thanks for taking a moment to remember them. On a lighter note, achievement unlocked, you found the hexagons! This is one of the few places in the world that has neighborhoods organized around hexagons. City Beautiful had a video about hexagons a few months ago, and I happened to comment about Ansan ^^

Rest in peace Danwon High School students and teachers. Was a really sad time here for sure. That's really cool about the hexagon fact though! Haha. Had no idea about the city until we randomly stumbled upon it, but it was a great place to explore for sure!

Thank you guys for exploring hidden gem town around Seoul, you deserve more attention of course not all beautiful things ask for it. I also would like to appreciate the old lady that you met on the crosswalk for still remembering their younger neighbors. I am just a regular Korean but even after 10 years my heart tears apart, maybe even harder while I am getting older, when I hear about the tragedy and think about all those people died in that day. But as you said the people and neighborhood are resilient stay strong to not to forget those whom lost their lives in all different reality and everyday life.

Thanks so much for the kind words @estebanpark! I was around for the Sewol Tragedy and it was the saddest moment of my time here in Korea. It truly impacted the entire nation with sadness and grief, and like you said, it's important to keep remembering the bright souls that were lost, and to be influenced by them to create a better world for the future.

I like how one of you spoke English and the other spoke Korean. Gave me a chance to learn Korean again. I didn't know about the big spermarkets being closed on Sundays so the old markets can survive.
@lostthenfound9 ай бұрын
Happy to hear you like the mix between English/Korean @2GoodLookin! Also funnily enough, that law was just changed yesterday I think? Now the stores can choose which days they close, but I think it has to be two days every month still.

Hey @stevecriddle3299 really glad that you enjoyed this series! Thanks for letting us know, and we're hoping to continue a lot of similar videos throughout Seoul and then more of the countryside of Korea later on in the year!

Welcome to my town. Seoulers are often afraid to venture out to Ansan, but I myself prefer it for the most part to Seoul.
@lostthenfound8 ай бұрын
Thanks a lot @marcellostraps! I still remember when I first got to Korea and my co-workers told me I should never go to Ansan because it's too dangerous. Turns out it's actually a really nice area! I'd live there too for sure!

Wow. I have't been to Ansan since '93. The areas of it I saw, at least as I remember them now, were quite a bit like the neighborhoods in Yeongdeungpo. I expected it would have changed since then, but that's a complete transformation. Now I want to go wander around a bit myself. Thanks for the video!

Wow Mike 1993! I was only 4 years old at that time haha. I bet you have seen Korea go through some absolutely massive changes in your time here! Also it's definitely worth a visit just to see the developments going on. Looking forward to your next video to learn some more about Korea, and stay warm in this ridiculously cold weather! Haha

At the end you touched on work restrictions in terms of location and I couldn't agree more,, I'm living in Daejeon and absolutely love it here,, it's a pity the opportunities for foreigners tend to be in Seoul (and surrounding areas),,, I'd love to stay in Daejeon but it's likely not possible,, I'll enjoy it while I can :)
@lostthenfound9 ай бұрын
I've always had a really good time in Daejeon everytime I've gone there. We have considered living there just because of its central location and access to the entire country. You are so right that most of the working opportunities are in Seoul for foreigners though unfortunately. Hope you can find a way to stay there since it sounds you really like it!

@Mudskipper9876 it can definitely be intimidating at first, but trying the local spots almost always results in some kind of a fun story with the workers or other customers, just because they are so happy to see a traveler enter there. If you can make it here I strongly recommend it!
