You had to go to the factory 3 hours away to pick up ur van ? Don’t they usually deliver it to your front door ? 😮

i have a secret for you: us parents dont have that energy either! its mainly a mix of adrenaline, caffiene, winging it and figuring things out on the fly! Interesting regarding the culture shock, ive not been to canada but felt similar in restaurants in america.winter looks so cool in korea but cold! anyway heres to a big 2025 for you, hopefully not many van issues and many successes

Hi! You should invest in some camping gear for situations like the heater not working. Even just some sleeping bags.

Three failed fixes of the heater. totally unacceptable. I dislike conflict as much as you do, but I have realized over the years that sometimes you have to raise hell to get things done right in Korea.

@aletheia3 haha I know what you mean. There's an element as well that we don't really want to use our videos to make other people's businesses suffer as a result. Will get some help with the heater from a company that specializes in them soon and hope for the best!

Few things. Me and my wife got engaged in Victoria! We love it up there and have close friends there that we are planning to visit in our self converted sprinter van. Second, I have a gas sprinter and live in so cal. I installed a similar diesel heater in my van. I regret not getting a name brand like webasto or espar. My justification is that I live in a warm area and need will be less than you guys. But I’ve had nothing but issues with mine as well. Third, the fuel pump should be installed at an angle, at least that’s what the directions say. Lastly, one day lift pass here is $259!! That season pass you guys have is a killer deal!!!
@lostthenfound3 күн бұрын
@taeum3062 wow that's awesome! Would be awesome to drive around Vancouver Island in a van! Also thank you so much for the tip about the fuel pump! We visited another mechanic who works on heaters like ours and he mentioned the same thing about the angle, so we are going to get that fixed right after the lunar new year holiday. Also, skiing has become so expensive these days in North America eh! $259 for a single day is an absolute crime in my opinion! Hope there are some other places somewhat nearby that aren't as expensive!

@chrisselner6808 wow thank you so much for your kind generousity and support along with your nice message! We have since bought a really good carbon monoxide detector approved by the fire department, so we have two of them again luckily. Really appreciate the concern as well! Despite these kind of problems, we are still really satisfied with our life in a van so we'll continue it for the foreseeable future. I'm sure we will settle down in a home someday as well, but that'll probably come later down the road! Thanks for the compliments as well! Hope you have an amazing week, and thanks again for your support!

Van life is huge in the USA. Have you tried looking into the van builds in the USA for ideas? The build outs look so much more advanced than Korea. They even have showers, kitchens and are insulated from cold or heat. Search YT for van life builds and you'll be amazed at what they can do nowadays. Good luck!

Time to buy a portable generator for the van and buy a small portable heater.
@lostthenfound3 күн бұрын
@af-rv7le that's a good idea for sure! We don't have space for a portable generator, but we packed our warm sleeping bags at least for now (should have had them before), and spent another night in -10 degrees without any problems luckily! Luckily if things get really bad we can just turn on the van with the heat and drive to a rest stop to relax indoors.

I know you said you don't feel Canadian at this point but you were so nice and polite so Canadian of you about your broken heater. They should have given you an upgrade or some extra things for all the trouble. I bet you even apologized to them.🤣 I'm heading to Vancouver Feb. 12th for a month and it will be my first time in Canada, any suggestions on where to eat or things to do in the New Westminster BC area?
@eunsihae4 күн бұрын
New Westminster is a quiet city. Next city over, Coquitlam has a koreatown, about 15 min drive away. Vancouver(region) is a foodie city. Asian food generally is top notch. Not as cheap as street side Korea, yet very tasty. In Feb, maybe you can go skiing on local hills, yet eating is your main option at 0 degree weather right now.
@lostthenfound3 күн бұрын
@j.f.l.7649 haha it was definitely hard to keep bothering them, but we had no choice I guess eh! That's awesome that you will spend some time in Canada! I don't know much about New Westminster to be honest, but you should be fairly close to the skytrain (metro), so you can easily explore some other parts of the city as well. I don't have any specific restaurants to recommend, but definitely give some sushi places a try as Vancouver is famous for that. You could try BBQ Chicken as well which is a chicken franchise that's from Korea maps.app.goo.gl/Qxm3pz6kLF5k5q7R9. For some good places, you could check out Capilano Suspension Bridge for a nice park in the forest, and Grouse Mountain at night on a clear day for a nice view of the city. They are both a bit touristy, but I'd say they are both worth it. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Being of similar age, having a Korean mother and American father and having spent chunks of my life in Korea, Germany and the USA, I also feel shifting tides regarding my identity. Frustrating with the heater and all that driving/time wasting and freezing. But despite the cold, Korean winters have a decent amount of sun to keep your spirits up. Here in western Germany, the climate is rather temperate/marine so our winters are unbelievably gloomy - punctuated with short days, constant cloud cover, temps rarely dipping below freezing and thus incessant periods of drizzling - it's maddening. There was a recent period where I hadn't seen the sun for more than an hour in three weeks. After 14 years here, I still haven't got used to it and likely never will. I also second the US/Canadian restaurant experience. This whole affected folksy attitude, constantly checking in on you and rushing you out to flip the table is intrusive and insincere. Added to that, any place with a bar will likely have an abundance of TVs.
@lostthenfound3 күн бұрын
@jjandorliadul wow I can imagine you have a lot of very interesting shifts from spending time literally all over the place! You are so right about the sun though. I didn't realize how spoiled we are with it until we had 3 weeks of rain in Canada recently. Hope you get some more sunshine soon, and all the best eh!
