I'm surprised that some people find IU 'ugly'. I remember the first time I saw her. I was starstruck by her beauty, seriously. She's the first Korean actress that I know because Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo is the first KDrama I have watched. After watching the series, I felt affected so much that I couldn't stop thinking about it. I didn't even have a boyfriend or what back then, but I'm broken-hearted. IU’s role in Scarlet Heart ♥️ was the turning point for her acting career. I felt like in the first few episodes of the show she was nervous and didn’t perform that well, but as the show progressed her acting improved along the way and she held her own and did a great job in the end. She’s one of those rare actresses that can do cute and quirky (Bel Ami) as well as very serious (My Mr.) very well. Her strongest strength is her ability to grow and improve. She is also not afraid to take on roles that other main stream actresses would be afraid to take. D.O’s role in ‘It’s okay that love’ was the first role I saw him in and I knew from that show alone that he was an amazing actor. The emotion he expressed was incredible👍🏼.

Saw him in Hello Monster and I really thought that he’s a new actor so I searched for him to see his previous works and was surprised that he’s from EXO (Idk about them but i know that they exist tho). After watching Scarlet Heart Moonlovers I fell instantly in love with Lee joongi and of course IU, she pretty sure nailed the part of the female lead Hae Soo the love interest of Wang So, IU's acting is so good that it makes Joongi and IU's chemistry undeniably superb. IU wasn’t the problem in ‘Moon Lovers’, it was just a whole production taking on as much as possible in half the episode with too many themes. It wasn’t the best way showcase any acting talent well. IU having a role that truly showcases acting ability with a very societal commentary centered roll over the global appeal of a blockbuster type drama was a really smart move, especially because her Korean image is one of her strongest assets. Do Kyungsoo worked his way up the honest way because he has a passion for acting. The only time he just took on a roll was for ‘EXO Next Door’ and even then he gave a natural performance without trying to push it into dramatics. I’m totally bias here, but I’m really proud of how he has handled his acting career. Kim Go Eun just doesn’t fit everyone’s visual standards for a roll and they somehow associate that with her acting abilities, which are what gets her the roles. It’s a shame because the exact opposite is true for Han So Hee in that her image fits her roles so well but everyone then assumes her acting skills aren’t part of her fitting her roles. Some actors and actresses just can’t win when it comes to their looks.

I remember when I started out watching K-dramas only for the cutesy romance, I searched out more and more romance genre shows every week. On a certain Quora post, someone recommended My Mister describing it as more of a love genre and not a romance. I was like, meh, but added it to my list thinking I would watch it when I had nothing to do. I put off watching it for months streaming through all top romance K-dramas like Goblin & DOTS. Just when I was running our of shows to watch, I decided to give it a go, thinking how boring can it be. And MAN was I blown away! This had 0 romance but had somehow made it to my lifetime top 3. I was dazzled by IU, and researched her like crazy like who the hell was she. I found out she's a single too. I listened to Blueming & BBIBBI. This time I was just ... Needless to say I have been a fan of her ever since and found out kdramas can be more than cheesy romances.

The way IU's acting improved is almost impossible.. Honestly, ever since I knew kpop 10 years ago, I really really couldn't stand her.. Then I watched Moon Lovers and then started to accept her..
