A lot of male gymnasts become cheerleaders and are very strong from their years of training. Also, it has been popular for football players that have sustained injury enough that they have to quit football but want to stay involved and take on the challenge of cheerleading to continue to use their years of physical conditioning in a positive way and stay in a competative sport.

@@kokomo9764 Technically, you're right as for a very long time, cheerleading was not considered a sport. However, as of July of 2021, the International Olympics Committee (IOC), has officially recognized competitive cheerleading as a sport. Therefore, it is officially a sport now and might actually be in the Olympics in 2028. Also as an aside, the International Cheer Union has been around as the worldwide organization for competitive cheerleading since 2004.

Growing up in Texas, I did both school and competitive cheerleading for years and I’ve never heard of “astunt cheer and action cheer” before. What you call stunt cheer is just normal cheerleading in America. Even the most basic cheer teams or kid cheer teams did tumbling, pyramids, and sometimes flyers. If you don’t do those elements, then it’s just a dance team not cheerleading. So I find it very interesting that it’s so different for y’all… would you guys post a video of your team cheerleading?? I’m curious to see what exactly you mean by action cheer
@angelamorrow89733 жыл бұрын
They literally said in KOREA they have action cheer. You go on a rant about stuff in Texas when they are talking about another country. Pay attention.

it’s so interesting that in Korea they have stunt cheer and action cheer. in the US, even in school teams, we always do stunts and tumbling and flexibility. we have different levels though. in High School, there is typically freshman, jv (junior varsity), and varsity. those were college (university) cheerleaders. they are very good and have years of experience and practice. but id be interested to see them reacting to middle school or high school cheer, as they are younger, smaller, but still very good.

Once while just randomly watching a cheer competition on ESPN, I was so impressed by a girl who took an elbow in the mouth from a "flyer" I guess. I could see her teeth zip across the TV screen, and she just made a pain face, and kept on cheering without missing a step. The sheer will, and dedication in that should impress anyone.

Ah this was fun to watch. The first time I ever saw Korean cheerleaders, I was shocked LOL. They are so different from American cheerleaders! I cheered for my high school and we did a mix of sideline cheers, dancing, and stunts (very little tumbling) and performed at football and basketball games, as well as any pep rallies/assemblies at school. I wasn't in competitive cheer, so it definitely was not as rigorous as these routines but still it was a lot of fun. I studied abroad one summer at KU and they had cheerleaders at the opening ceremony! They were very peppy, very cute and energetic. My favorite cheer was "Yonsei Chicken" 😂

OMG Cheer in the US is CUTRHROAT!!! Even like elementary little kids competions in cheer!! It's taken VERY serious here! And mostly like basic small high school they're "the jocks, cheerleaders" aka Bullies & B*tches in most high schools realistically. Cheer teams that do competitions, though are a whole other level! They WORK HARD and really are incredible!!! Usually in larger, bigger schools and cities that have the money to put into it. It can get really expensive. Similarly with gymnastics. HOURS AND HOURS of practice. But the little kids, are seriously SO CUTE!!!!!

Over the past 60 years cheerleading has evolved from a (mostly) cute female squad that stood on the edge of the field looking cute, cheering on their team. Gradually, dance moves and more males changed the practice--I was about to say sport but it was not really a sport---. Then gymnastic moves were introduced, making it a sport, IMO.

Hi just a suggestion. It might be helpful for the readers to have the subtitles under the video instead of under the kids talking. Simply because it’s very difficult to understand what they are talking about if you are focusing on the Text of the dialogue, you miss what is on the video being shown and it’s hard to relate to what the speaker is referring to. If we watch the video then we miss what is being said about the video. This problem is even worse if it’s shown on a larger screen like a laptop, Desktop, and forget about it on a TV screen. Having the Subtitles text Directly under the video being shown with the text background or the text itself colored differently for the different people speaking. This way the viewer will always know who is speaking even if they can’t look at them the whole time.

Well allstar cheerleading is definitely different from HS or college cheerleading where their sole purpose is to lead cheers on the sidelines, raise spirit, represent their school or team etc...allstar cheer focuses on the stunting and tumbling part of cheer and their purpose is to compete.. making it more athletic and sport like
