Haha yeah I love soupy porridge. Though I'm starting to think I'm alone on this one lol. My aunt says where shes from which is further up North, porridge 🍲 is thicker and I think she said down south Juk tends to be "thinner". I dont know how true that is but I thought i'd share. ;) 💖

@@mav48185 You know I have this one and another cuckoo rice cooker... I use this multi cooker for other uses other than cooking rice.. and use my cuckoo rice cooker for my daily rice cooking.. so my answer can be depends on your main purpose for the machine.. If you want to use mainly for cooking rice.. zojirushi brand is good too.. I've had that for a long time ago..and I was satisfied with the quality of the product.. as you know.. cuckoo can be pricy... especially if you try to get the rice cooker.. not this multi cooker model.. anyway.. I'm using this multi cooker for years so far for making spaghetti sauce and other food..and I still like it. :) Hope this answer helps you little bit.

@@mav48185 If you are looking for a rice cooker..and your are sensitive about the flavor and texture of the rice... definitely... I will say... the rice cooker (Cuckoo's) works better for rice itself than this Cuckoo's multi cooker. The one I have (I searched it for you at amazon..).. it seems like they no longer has that particular model at amazon... which is the model number is.. cuckoo jhsr0609f ... and the most similar model they have now is... this one.. amzn.to/3ysMr1W and As I mentioned in my previous comment.. I was satisfied with zojirushi brand rice cooker before too... this is exact the same model I had before... amzn.to/3DYDTB9 I hope my answer is helpful for you. Thanks

Thank you very much for this video! I ended up returning my Instant Pot and buying this Cuckoo Multi Cooker instead. Thank you for sharing your personal history with this brand, and also documenting several days of cooking with it! So far I have made a lamb stew and today I will be cooking brown rice if I can find the correct water/rice proportion, and some chicken breasts for a dog food recipe. LOL mostly I cook for my dog, but I might start cooking for me - some of the recipes on the Cuckoo site look delicious! It seems like Cuckoo designed this particular version for the North American market? They don't seem to have other "multi cookers" but I'm wondering if some of the Korean version pressure "rice cookers" are being used as multi cookers? Are multi cookers a thing in Korea? Every time I google how to cook something in the Q5 I get videos about rice cookers or Instant Pot. I wish more people knew about this product so they would post cooking tips and recipes! Anyway, thank you again for a great insightful video that was very warm and friendly, and for your comments below which are all very helpful, and diplomatic!

Yes, you are right... they made this particular multi cooker more for American market than Korean market.. nowadays.. most electric pressure rice cooker has more functions than just cooking rice.. Great video!! Thank you so much for demonstrating each type of cooking feature. That’s extremely helpful in the decision making process of whether to purchase one of these high tech and pricy multi cookers. I really wished that you would have demonstrated how to cook mixed grains such as hard beans (red and black) with white and whole grain brown rice all together. It’s very nutritious and I’d like to master that technique for my family. Can it be done in one step with Cuckoo?

Hi ~~ When you buy Cuckoo pressure rice cooker or multicooker, it comes with instruction manual and little cookbook with recipes to try.. and both of them has already multi grain function for you to make bean rice.. or brown rice.. just select the function and it will make the rice you want for you. (I recommend to soak the beans ahead of time to enjoy even softer beans in your rice..)

Hi, Aeri. I read somewhere that some model of cuckoo can be used to proof bread dough. I did try multi grain rice in my cuckoo to grest success but mine doesn’t come w/ recipe book. It was shipped directly from Korea to my home in Indonesia. Thanks for the review and show of the different parts. I was wondering what they were coz mine is all in Korean...hehehehe... your hangeul lesson helps me read it but not understanding it, so i google translate most of it

Hi Mary, The way I could think you can get this multicooker is through amazon.. so I googled if amazon deliver to South Africa..and it said.. "According to the most recent shipping guidelines on Amazon.com South Africa is now the only country in Africa not able to receive standard or expedited shipping. The only option now for South African residents is to receive the goods via priority courier shipping, which is prohibitively costly.".. Hope cuckoo can sell things there too..

Yes, it has brown rice function which is "GaBa rice" function. You can just choose it.

are you still using this pressure cooker even now? i’m interested in knowing how this performs long-term. i’ve seen some people complain about the coating of the inner pot coming off after a few uses and that the rice turns mushy and yellow after 24 hours.

Yes, I'm still using it and mine still works great. I do not use this multi cooker daily though because have Cuckoo rice cooker too which I use almost everyday. That one works great too.. In my opinion, most cooked rice turns yellow (change texture and flavor) when you keep in warm setting for overnight when you cook the rice in the electric rice cooker.. (not just cuckoo's.. but other brand too..) which I'm very sensitive about that texture.. so I rather turn off my rice cooker once it's done cooking.. I think it prevents from changing the flavor and texture of the cooked rice. anyway.. I still recommend this product because I'm satisfied with it.

안녕하세요. 쿠쿠가 좋은 기능의 압력밥솥을 만드는건 맞는것 같아요. 제가 사용해 본 결과 압력솥, 멀티쿠커 모두 만족스럽네요. 다만 말씀하신.. 이 멀티쿠커의 경우는.. 쿠쿠에서 미국시장을 겨냥해 외국인들이 밥 이외에 정말 다른 다양한 용도의 음식을 만드는데 사용하는 것을 중점으로 제품을 만든것 같아요. 그래서 언어도 한국어는 없고.. 영어 중국어 이렇게 되어 있구요. 저는 주로 이 멀티쿠커를... 스파게티 소스 만들거나 뭘 찌거나 이럴때 사용하는데.. 밥은 쿠쿠의 압력솥을 사용한답니다. 차이점을 보면... 쿠쿠 압력솥은 안에 솥이 상당히 두꺼워요..딱 봐도 튼튼해 보임.. 반면.. 이 멀티쿠커는 안에 솥이 훨씬 얇아요. 코팅 재질도 좀 차이가 있는것 같구요. 이 멀티쿠커에도 밥을 하는 기능이 있어요.. 이것으로도 밥을 했을때 나쁘지 않았어요.. 그래도 굳이 비교하자면.. 일반 압력솥이 밥을 더 찰지고 맛있게 만드는것 같기는 해요.. 아주 엄청난 차이는 아니니.. 가격을 생각하면... 압력밥솥 대용으로 이 제품을 고려해 보시는것도 괜찮을것 같기도 하네요. 이 멀티쿠커 가격도 만만치 않으니까요.. (제가 오늘 다시한번 멀티쿠커로 밥을 해보고 말씀드릴게요.. )

I got cuckoo pressure rice cooker. However, every time I cooked the rice I end up having yellow color of rice. Can you tell me what causes the rice to yellow color? Thank you

I searched some to answer your question.. and found out.. some people have a similar problem.. and one person contacted Cuckoo A/S (after service) center and asked for some help.. they suggested .. to check the temperature of the rice cooker setting... it was 74... and it moves up to 80.. (obviously.. that person's rice cooker had a function to change the temperature manually..) and it fixed the problem... with my experience, most rice cookers (even other brands..) change the texture, flavor, even little bit of color when you keep the rice in the rice cooker with keeping warm setting for some time.. which I hate that flavor and texture of the rice.. so I normally turn off my rice cooker immediately and don't keep warm my rice in the rice cooker.. So I can say.. you are having the same problem.. In Korea.. we put the steaming hot rice (right after making rice) in a glass or plastic (I prefer glass) container for each serving..and directly keep it in the freezer... later you microwave it.. then your rice taste like the fresh cooked rice... Try that method too if you are interested in.... THanks

I have yet to try yakbap w/ it. It makes awesome seollongtang & japanese pork bone broth. I bought it online thinking that it was shipped from Jakarta but when i received it, it said it was shipped from Korea. I wish it comes w/ recipe book though

Yes, I also have a Cuckoo rice cooker (this one... amzn.to/2G5kpAM) and since I started to use it, I'm no longer using my stove top pressure cooker... because Cuckoo rice cooker is easier to use,, save cooking time...and it tastes good. I've never tried cuchen rice cooker before, so to be honest with you I can not compare and help you for that part...but I've had this rice cooker before.. Zojirushi rice cooker... amzn.to/2DDCQHG ... If I compare both of them... Zojirushi makes good rice cooker product too... but cuckoo's rice cooker has advanced technology which makes sense because it's a lot more expensive than the other one. I love the fact how quickly cuckoo rice cooker cooks my plain white rice...and has other cooking functions as if it is a multicooker..aha... another thing is.. when i tried to make some rice for my kimbap, it helped me to make very good texture of rice..i think.. that's the most important part of making good kimbap.. it will be same with sushi... you don't want .. too much water.. too less water for it..just right amount of rice and water to make the kimbap rice..and it's own sticky texture from the high pressure cooking method... anway.. since you seem like you are looking for a high-end rice cooker, i can recommend to try Cuckoo's rice cooker. No 1 brand in Korea can be already a prof it is a good one to suggest too..hehe (amzn.to/2pnaRro I looked cuchen rice cooker at amazon.. yay ~~ it's another Korean company.... since i don't know much about it... similar price.. cuckoo seems have a little better review and ratings.. but just if i only pick by looking ..i said.. "IF" ... I definately prefer Cuckoo's design for their prodct than the other one..) whatever you choose, I know it will make it easier for you to cook delicious rice.. let me know if you buy a rice cooker someday and how you like it... hehe Good luck for your rice cooker shopping ~!!

Yes, it does have the function.. the texture of the bread or cake is not quite the same with the ones you bake in the oven though.. it's more close to steamed ones... it's easy to use ~~ :)

Do you mean brownie cake?? I didn't try to make normal cake with the rice cooker yet other than the cheese cake I tried in the video. 안녕하세요 ~ 많이 지난 영상에 궁금증을 올려도 되나 좀 고민을 했지만 올려 봐요 보통 쿠쿠 압력 밥솥을 샀어야 하나 후회가 되지만 가격이 저렴하게 나와 시도해 보려 구입했는데 잡곡밥 지을때도 괜찮을까해서요 현미밥등 잡곡밥 용도로 구입을 했거든요 메뉴 선택에서 rice 가 아닌 steam rice 를 선택하고 heating 도 선택을 해야하는지요? 감사합니다

안녕하세요 ^^ 한국분이시라 더욱 반가워요. 예전 영상이라도 언제든 궁금하신거 있으심 댓글 남겨주세요. ^^ 맞아요... 쿠쿠 압력솥이 많이 비싸긴 하죠..ㅜ,ㅜ 완전 이해가요... 저는 이 멀티 쿠커와... 일반 쿠쿠 압력솥을 다 가지고 있어서.. 일반 압력솥에 대체로 밥을 하고.. 다른 음식은 멀티쿠커를 사용하고 있습니다. 하지만... 당연히... 작곡밥을 이 멀티쿠커로 지으셔도 됀다고 생각해요. 그런데.. 제가 가진 이 모델은.. Rice 기능은 있지만.. Steam Rice 라는건 없고.. 대신 Steam Cook 이란 기능은 있어요.. 저는.. 그냥 Rice 를 선택하시고.. 요리 시간이 3분에서 30부누 사이에 선택할수 있게 되어있는데..Miximum 설정 가능 시간인 30분으로 설정해서 잡곡밥 지어보시라고 추천드리고 싶습니다. 만약.. 콩 종류가 들어간다면.. 미리 불리시거나.. 쪄 놓으셨다가... 밥 지으실때 쌀과 함께 밥을 지으시면 골고루 잘 익을거에요. 해보시고.. 잘 되었는지 시간되시면 알려주세요. 감사합니다. p.s 예전에 댓글중 어떤 분이.. 이 밥솥은 Steam Cook Mode로 밥을 해야 밥이 더 맛있다고 댓글 남겨주신적이 있어요... 혹시.. I think they created this particular model.. (multi-cooker) for American and other country market but not for Koreans.... since most of Koreans already have or use electric rice cooker... which can be used as a multi cooker.. I can be wrong on it..but there is a chance they sell this particular model only in abroad but not in Korea.. but yes I know what your point is... hehe If you are going to order this multi-cooker someday, there is a link for it in the description box for you.

안녕하세요. ^^ 저는 주로 쿠쿠 라이스 쿠커로 밥을 하고, 이 멀티쿠커는 다른 용도로 사용하는데요... 제 생각에 밥의 양과 크게 상관없이 물의 양만 잘 조절하시면 비슷한 시간에 밥이 완성 되는것 같아요. 멀티쿠커의 밥짓기 기능을 선택하시면 시간이 선택이 되어지던데... 제가 이 비디오에서 사용한 모델과 같은 것이라면 밥짓기 기능 선택 확인해 보시기 바래요. ^^ 한글 댓글이라 더 반갑습니다.

Rice 기능이 있는건 아는데 설명서를 보니 rice 기능은 long grain rice를 위한 기능이라 한국식 백미를 사용할 땐 steam cook 기능을 권장한다고 되어 있더라구요. 근데 레시피 기준이 다 2인이라 질문드린거였어요ㅎㅎ시간은 크게 상관 없을 것 같다 하시니 설명서대로 도전 해보겠습니다! 그리고 사실 어제 첫사용으로 rice 기능을 사용해서 밥을 했는데 괜찮게 잘 되더라구요. 해보고 별 차이 없으면 말씀하신대로 그냥 편하게 rice 기능 사용하면 될 것 같아요. 저도 한국어로 이렇게 도움 받을 수 있어서 정말 반갑고 감사하네요. 다시 한 번 좋은 영상 감사드려요. 좋은 하루 되세요:)

I'm not familiar with gaba rice..but is it similar with germinated brown rice?? if so... cuckoo rice cooker has that function for it. like this one.. amzn.to/36uxBfq For this cuckoo multi cooker I showed in this video, I don't think it has that particular germinated brown rice cooking function..but it has a function for cooking rice..

With my experience, I don't see much difference for the rice cooking function to make different types of rice.. it's the water amount.. and even the water amount.. most rice will be similar.. big difference or need to choose different function for cooking rice will be... if it's mixed grain rice with beans and other grains.. and they have a seperate button for it.. btw the instruction book doesn't have English in it ?

I've been debating between this and a standard Cuckoo rice cooker that does different types of rice, both with a pressure and non-pressure option. The multicooker would be interesting as I don't own a crock pot or pressure cooker, but I'd mainly just like to get different types of rice and grains done nicely. If this cooker only has one option and no instructions on how long to cook and how much water to use then I'm not sure I'd get good results, especially if I'm more adventurous and add beans to the rice or make quinoa instead

Hi, This ICOOK Q5 multi cooker is more like instant pot which you use for multiple cooking with different cooking options.. and. CRP-CHSS1009FN is more professionally made for cooking rice... however.. both of them has similar functions also.. I mean.. with the ICOOK Q5 multi cooker, you can also cook rice... with CRP-CHSS1009FN has other cooking functions... just the main focus is different.. also.. the price can be a big different... ICOOK Q5 multi cooker is a lot cheaper than CRP-CHSS1009FN.. so consider what is your main use for this electric pressure for you... if you want focus on cooking. rice, my recommendation is definitely CRP-CHSS1009FN, I love it ~~ but if you just want multi cooker, get the ICOOK Q5 multi cooker.. I use both of them a lot for my cooking. Hope this helps.

Your pressure cooker will have either the function button for the bean.. or.. instruction for it on the manual book. If you particularly have cuckoo's pressure cooker.. they have bean function in it. You can do either steam the beans or.. cook the beans with some water to boil in the pressure cooker.

It can be just me but I do not like warm rice in a rice cooker.. I only like freshly cooked rice. (maybe I'm a little picky about my rice flavor and texture..).. so right after I finish cooking my recipe.. I usually turn off the rice cooker. but normallly they say you can keep the rice on warm up to 48 hours..

Aeri's Kitchen Thank you. I know what you mean however if the rice cooker doesn’t keep rice warm all day and keep it still moist than I don’t think it’s a good investments. Reason I want to splurge on pressure rice cooker is not on the features of different cooking but for the convenience of making rice once a day. Lol Otherwise I can just keep my more cheaper regular zojirushi rice cooker if I cook fresh batch each meal.

As I mentioned in my previous comment.. it's just me who doesn't like warm rice from any kind of rice cooker.. as time goes, I think it's the texture and flavor slightly changes..and I'm sensitive about it.. but for me.. when I pick rice cooker, the most important part is how tasty and good quality cooked rice it can make and.. cuckoo is leading brand in that point..I'm very satisfied with the flavor and texture of my cooked rice and it makes so easy to cook my rice in such a short time.. so I can recommend this to others.. if you already have zojirushi rice cooker (I had that brand few years ago.. I liked it too..) .. i think it also have keep warm function..so yes you can use what you already have for cooking rice. :) btw.. most people like warm rice from rice cooker.. again it's just me.. lol so it can be a good investment in that point.. anyway..since I got my cuckoo rice cooker, I use it almost everyday for my daily cooking. :) THanks for your comment.

I didn't try to cook quinoa with this multi cooker before, so I can not tell the exact method (time and function to choose) but.. I think.. the method should be very similar between different rice cookers or multi cookers.. so you can check other videos or blog posts about it. Sorry about my poor answer though.

As far as i know she bought it for around 500.000won (if i am not mistaken) And last time I saw the small one,really want to buy and bring it. Well,i have a local rice cooker for around $100 and its broken less than a year,so i think $179 is very affordable for a good rice cooker.

난 한국에서도 친구가 사다준 조지루시를 오래써서 또 여기선 밥을 일주일에 1~2번 만들어 아직 따뚯할때 개개로 냉동시켜서 먹어서 전기밥솥에 필요성이 .... 쿠쿠가 어디제품인지는 모르지만 이름이 들어본적이 있는것같아서 google에 찾아봤지. 내가 젊은시절에는 없었던듯.인스탄트 팟으로 아주행복하다는!! 우리집은 내밥하고 남편밥이 달라서 냉동보관이 참 좋다는!

I've never tried Instantpot before but it seems like lots of people use it... My just watching some of the reviews about Instantpot.. or just looking at it.. I can tell Cuckoo makes fancy looking products.. they use high quality material.. (they are high end product.. so more expensive though..) voice guide function... I don't think Instantpot has it.. I can not compare the cooking functions because I didn't use Instantpot..but it does seem like.. they have many similar functions..
