And when you act like such smarmy fool it’s just inconceivable. Visiting Japan is a dream to me. I was 5'2" and 100lbs in jr high and some 5'8" blonde kid was calling me racist names so we got into a fight. I beat the shit out of him. That guy never looked at me or talked to me again. On our high school graduation day (5 years later), his friend told me he wanted a rematch and I walked up to him and accepted the challenge but he backed out. At the time I was 5'5" and 128lb, I was in the school varsity wrestling team, and broke multiple school weightlifting records. Even though that dude was 6" tall that one beating was still in his mind... Bullies are cowards! You just have to stand up to them once and they'll never bother you again.

You are a legend. I too stood up to a bully who kept harrassing and hittting me. One day I just got tired of it and went after him and had him in a headlock for a minute. Later in the day, he says he wants to fight after school. I say, "Yeah, let's do it." Later he says, "Let's have peace" and shakes my hand. It was all a bluff. Never bothered me again. However I don't recommend this. Losing in a fight could be traumatic. It's best to just avoid such people by getting out of public schools, get into good schools, homeschool, or whatever. Public schools are no longer safe especially in blue states.

@@josephk7530 That is NOT what should happen. Koreans and Japanese should not unite together and work together. Japan has still yet to apologize to the Korean victims who are still alive today that were forced by the Japanese government for labor work. Over the last decades, Korea has proven to be a world power, and an economic powerhouse. Soon, Korea will become one of the world's most greatest powers that it'll be comparable to the U.S. on a power scale. So why should us mighty Koreans have to even acknowledge and even think of cooperating with the dwarf Japanese?

This is really sad. I am a Somali woman myself. This man is a moron. If he were in my home country, he would get beaten up by his peers. We do not harass people gratuitously. In my country, we have lots of Chinese and Japanese people who worked very hard to learn my language, they are polite and deserve nothing but respect. I think Asians need to be tougher, especially in the West. Anti asian attacks are high in the UK and I believe that it’s because people assume Asians don’t fight back. You should fight back, yell back, attack back. If you are scary back, people leave you alone. I grew up doing judo three times a week and ended up with a green to blue belt at the age of 14 (I stopped at puberty because there were no other girls and it was getting awkward fighting with just men). In my youth I associated Asian men with strength and discipline. I think Asian men should bring that Asian brand of toughness back.

I think we would really benefit from all types of “prank” videos being demonetized and not giving any clouts to those who make those contents. I agree-unfortunately those types of videos just encourage idiotic, sometimes even hateful and very disrespectful behaviours in general and that doesn’t make the world a better place. I think we can also do everyone a favour by not watching those videos as a viewer too. Sadly, there are people who have nothing better to do than pick on others for no reason and those who are currently in that situation need to get a life of their own... like a job, education or valid hobby that does not involving troubling others. Do not encourage someone to make these ''prank' videos. I also liked how Andrew and David talked about how everyone needs to be physically and intellectually trained to handle issues without it becoming physical …so many people lack those skills for sure. Thank you for an amazing video!

As a Chinese American I witness a white police said racist remarks to a black girl working at return center at Toys R Us. about the Korean guy wearing a West Virginia cap in line in front of him. After he left I told the white guy what’s wrong with an Asian guy graduating from WVU? After he apologized and corrected himself he tried to flash his badge and I told him oh wow you trying to flash that on me? I have cop friends. This is the reason why our country is in what it is. I had a big lecture to the guy and he apologized and walked away. We Asians have to stand up too.

I don’t want to dismiss the impact of the racist act, but you guys did a good job describing why prank videos exist in Japan. But c’mon, y’all need to step up your game on how you speak about Asian men issues. The truth is that around 20 years old you already have a personality based on your education and experiences and that will influence how you see the World and interact with it. It will be very difficult to change this people and their inferiority complex or other more serious psychological illnesses. They do this because most people won't react; so what you should do is pop their bubble by standing up to them (I would say if they are harrasing you that should be considered an assault) or just call the authorities and let them handle it.

Although it seems right to create a balance (prepare people for bullies), it's best to preserve culture. We shouldn't conform to bullies. We shouldn't alter ourselves for their sake. We should preserve the good qualities of our cultures that we want to see throughout generations. Both situations were handled well. When a situation suddenly happens, some people fight and other flight. It can be instinctual and it's not wrong that the other subway goers were calm. There was balance in that subway, a mix of calm and confrontation.

For the Asian Americans who are calling for all Asians everywhere to start "building up our bodies and start fighting back", I understand the sentiment but lets be careful to apply our very uniquely western social and cultural dynamics to the eastern world. Unlike America, a lot of places in the world especially east Asia is a place where people aren't quick to be physically violent. People are living in a much more mindful peaceful mindset and that's not something that should change because of silly foreigner pranksters. At the end of the day, these Japanese people on the train aren't weak , they just know that this isn't something worth having a physical fight over and that they don't have the necessary English skills to tell him to leave. I'll also add that its actually uniquely our jobs as Asian Americans (like the man in the video) to go back to our motherlands and keep the foreigners in check.

There is also the slay the dragon long enough one becomes the dragon dilemma. In the grand scheme of things, these are people left behind by society trying to reach into society without the means(hence why they always attempt non productive/toxic activities). Objectively, the best approach is still to deescalate and disassociate. Engaging will either change you or waste more of your limited time. if you run into these, is your unlucky day. hopefully through education, this part of society will eventually fade away with time. this is only dragging on humanity from advances, the not so great part of reality.

What pisses me off, is not the self entitlement of "these" (mostly) american pranksters but rather their unwavering belief that their freedom of speech (the one in the USA) enables them to act, discriminate and act in such disrespectful manners (wherever they might go). We mostly all have freedom of speech but our freedom is limited to ourselves but when others have (what might be perceived as) unwelcomed/rude interactions from others; the offenders must understand that they are committing in these other nations a crime. Freedom of speech is an American concept, so we don’t give it any value (where hate speech, obscenity, and defamation are not only legal but a right). This right is contrary to most other nations which means that you can get fined or even go to jail based on something you say (there). Say something on Twitter that “wilfully promotes hatred” and you could go to jail for two years (here in Canada 😉). Even if japan has freedom of speech in their constitution, it isn't a protected right as in the USA; speak up against policies or the government in Japan (treasonous actions against others) and you can get 10 years of prison time. Quite similar to China's "enjoyed"😂 freedom of speech. Personally that man in Japan should've been deported and fined for the cost of, said deportation (plane, officer's, fuel to go and to return) and also a symbolic financial fine as a measure of deterrence to such actions. Not only did he "attack" the citizens but by doing so he is attacking the country/govt. This is also a reason why Americans are perceived as ignoramuses (beside their weird fetishism towards wealth and their underrated education at insane cost). Not here to offend 😅 but reality has been "hushed" for too many years. Great topic!! Keep up the great work.😊
