Korean Egg and Rice Street Food Recipe
Ingredients (Serves 2):
2 cups cooked short-grain rice (warm)
2 large eggs
1 tbsp butter (or sesame oil for flavor)
1 tbsp soy sauce (or to taste)
1 tsp sugar (optional, for a touch of sweetness)
1/2 tsp sesame oil (for finishing)
1 green onion, finely chopped
1 sheet of seaweed (gim), cut into strips or crumbled
1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
Optional toppings: Spam slices, ham, sausage, kimchi, or cheese
Instructions:
Prepare the Rice
In a bowl, mix the warm cooked rice with 1 tsp sesame oil and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Set aside.
Make the Eggs
Crack the eggs into a bowl, season with a pinch of salt, and whisk well.
Heat butter (or sesame oil) in a non-stick pan over low-medium heat. Add the eggs and stir gently with a spatula until soft and fluffy. Remove from heat.
Assemble the Dish
Place the rice on a plate or shallow bowl, forming a mound.
Add the scrambled eggs on top or beside the rice.
Drizzle with Sauce
Pour soy sauce evenly over the rice and eggs. You can also mix soy sauce with sugar for a slightly sweet glaze.
Add Toppings
Garnish with green onion, seaweed strips, and sesame seeds. If desired, add toppings like crispy Spam slices, sautéed kimchi, or grated cheese.
Serve
Serve hot, with a side of pickled radish or extra kimchi for a true Korean street food vibe.
