I always felt Korean treditional music are wild and powerful with strong voice. but this song sounds very different to others I have ever heard. I dont know what they sing about, it sounds like fragile and bed time story. very beautiful and cultual.
@랙쇼랙쇼3 жыл бұрын
Korean traditional singers have several different styles. Strong and wile properties are features specific to the southern part of Korea. A few Pansori singers who were alive in the northern region of peninsula when DPRK was established had to ditch their style of singing because Kim-il-Sung, the first leader of North Korea didn't like Pansori singing style. That's why there is no one left who sings songs in distinctive strong and wild Pansori style in North Korea. There are only Seodo-minyo style singers in NK featuring fragile and whining properties.

When I was a kid, in the WW3 postwar period, my parents used to produce hemp on their small land fields, north of Portugal; this hemp was produced to be woven in one of those small plants, which have appeared in the postwar aftermath, near my parents home town. I still remember all those nice crafts fiber weaving apparatuses!... In my Country, all those wonders are gone, forever. Here, culture, is something..., more like money...; different from the knowledge we have received from our ancestors.

@jhsuhmail When you say it smells Chinese, it is well known that in North Korea a lot fo the traditional arts, like dance and songs, get reinterpreted or "modernized" so to say in ways similar to Comunist China or even Soviet Russia. I would not be surprised if they'd sing it like that in Yeon Byeon. All I wanted to say about this video is that such ethereal dancing will never again be seen by the world.

Whenever I hear this kind of music, I always envision a certain type of razor sharp sword, and a lone, soft spoken guy sitting in an inn, quietly eating and admiring the wildflowers growing outside, but who can suddenly draw this sword from his coat with astonishing swiftness at once and cleanly slice a person in half at the torso before they even realized what had hit them.
